Location: Brisbane Australia | Gooday from down under. I have a Model 1755 '93 vintage. Had it since new. The FET3 preamp seems to have died. Is it possible to get them repaired, or if not is there an after-market preamp that will slot in. Mine has the separate 9V battery box adjacent to the FET3. I can see the OP24 looks like it would fit but can't find either of them for sale. Any feedback appreciated. |

Location: Denmark | Hi and welcome. It is not just a broken battery lead?
Here is an old thread discussing some differences but it does not explain if the OP24 fits as direct FET3 replacement. The FET3 seems also rather basic - meaning that it probably is easier to troubleshoot/repair for someone with basic knowledge of analog electronics.

The diagram is availble from ovationtribute.com is also http://www.ovationtribute.com/Schematics.html There is also a mechanics parts list where seemingly many mechanical parts between FET3 and OP24 were common so chances are that the OP24 may fit.
BUT - BUT - BUT !! The OP24 also came as OP24+ which has different geometry. See them here: http://www.ovationtribute.com/Pr%E9-amplis/Ovation%20Preamps.html
- Share your findings and doings for the joy and benefit of us all, please :-)
