Location: Phoenix, AZ | BCS-2007 Collectors - Solve battery life limit to play all night - I have Op Pro Studio and VIP5 preamps. Sounds GREAT with 9V Duracell, but strong signal only lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours. I want to avoid extra equipment, and I like Ovation preamp. Has anyone found or developed a workaround, fix, or is there a replacement preamp that will give me phantom power, or use of AC adapter?

Location: Phoenix, AZ | I'll add to this question - can Ovation XLR jack or Op Pro Studio benefit from being used with Mackie 48 phantom power unit, and/or, can expensive Lithium 9v long life batteries, or expensive 9V alkaline with highly extended life be used with Ovation preamps without damaging them? Thanks, RickNPHX.

Location: Phoenix | I only use alkaline batteries. Not sure why your battery life is so low, mine lasts days. |

Here's a link to the subject,no phantom power
Is your tuner staying on all the time that seems like really fast battery drain

Location: Phoenix | If the tuner isn’t on…Do you have anything external that might be drawing output power? Bad instrument cable that might be partially shorting out, or something that loads the output down? Or just a bad lot of batteries…. |

I own a 2007C as well and it does NOT work with Phantompower!
As you can see in my signature, I have almost all my old Ovations upgrated to the OP Pro .... preamps series and in this time period you could get all these parts in the music shops or from Mothership. You could get two different XLR output units, with, and without Phantompower. Which were installed in higher end guitars with the OP-Pro preamp. Without in guitars with the OP pro Studio and VIP preamp. For my upgrades I always ordered them with Phantompower. So what happend. While looking for the best sound and swapping the preamps working with Phantompower, I put in a VIP with batterie inside. After a few seconds there was a hum thats getting louder and louder and then it was absolutely quiet and the Vip starts smoking.... and that was the last thing it has done!!!!
I think ( but I'm not shure, because I don't want to try it out) that that will not happen with guitars which can not provide Phantompower on the XLR. But dont't use a Studio or VIP with XLRwith Phantopmpower and connected Phantom power!!!! It will destroy your preamp.

Location: Germany, where delicious wine is growing (Rheinh) | .... One thing I've forgotten: Ihe IDEA premap could be used in the can of OP Pro, Studio and VIP. ONLY as a preamp and also NOT with Pantompower. There was something special with the Idea but it's long ago, I don't remember what, right now. If anybode want to try out whether his / her XLR provides Phantompower or not, you can only check this with an OP Pro, It is the only one which works with Phantompower. And.... if you have not a battery inside, the tuner will not work.....

Location: Utah | I also fried a preamp experimenting with phantom power. It was years ago, but I believe it was an OpPro Studio. Caution is advised when thinking of applying phantom power. Be sure the guitar wiring and the preamp are all specified for it. |

Location: Utah | I never have battery life problems with any OpPro version preamp. The 1/4" output jack is used to switch power on when a cable is plugged in. Sometimes the metal contacts get bent and do not turn off when unplugged. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Just a bit off-topic.... But I once owned an 07C, but I sold it because I did not like the VIP Preamp.
Once of the dumbest things that I have done in my Ovation adventure.
