Steve I agree. The early multi-wood eplaulets would have really enhanced the Bearclaw top. |

Now as to Clifford's yawn, I totally agree. The entire concept is long overdue for a multi year vacation. Of course we all know how likely that is of happening..... |

The '07 is a totally boring drab piece of work which took about as much imagination and engineering as cutting a fart in a wind storm.
But that's all the leash that the boys were given because they are spending all their efforts on engineering some kick-you-in-the-ass new products to be introduced in 2007. The Collector is just a "slap something together 'cuz we have to" but the REAL gems will see the light of day a little while later.
Just my guess. Dave |

| I have a feeling these look better in person than you can get with a photo. I know the bear claw on the CL30 I am selling is stunning to look at (even with the small crack in the top) but you just can not photograph that wood well.
I like this one. My only gripe would be the lack of the eplauets on the bottom as well. Never got used to the single set. I know, I know, I am stuck in the 70's man.. What can I say.

Then again, the sound quality... |

I'm not sure that's really on the mark about a short leash. The part about there being killer stuff in the pipe is 100% correct. I think that they are making some of the best sounding and quality guitars now. This is the time to buy. |

The comment about the short leash really meant that althoguh this '07C might be a really nice guitar, it didn't take much new engineering to make it happed. Bowl, top, electronics, etc. are existing technology. Onkly thing new is the epaulet wood. Contrast that to what it must have taken for the '97 or '05, for example. I wish I could afford to buy every new thing they make these days. Although I don't see much in the '07C that really calls out to me.

Are you suggesting that there is a big price increase coming, or just that the guitars are great so don't wait to get another? |

Having played Kim's pre LX proto with the single epaulet I can appreciate the singles. One pice Epaulets of virtually any wood are the way to go.
Nice choice on woods. |

As for looks, I love wood. I already sacrifice a lot in that area with the fiberglass bowl...and lose a lot of respect from all my stupid wood-guitar so-called friends. I'm glad Ovation does stuff like this.

Here's a 6778LX-VN

Location: Keller, TX | I remember hearing at the tour that the concept of the 2007 was to put together the best that they had at the time. No significant new development, just an ensemble of the current top technology.
Therefore, the LX upgrades, contour bowl, bearclaw spruce, VIP, etc.
To me, it is nothing special. Sounds pretty much like the Custom Elite LX I had (which was pretty good, but not like the Millenium or the Cootie).
Beautiful guitar, yes. Good sound, check. I'm sure they will sell plenty. But I won't get one. I like the 2006 Koa better. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I'm sure this guitar will sell just fine. My only observation is that the whole "Collectors Series" thing has gotten kind of stale. This is the 25th Anniversary of the Collectors Series and I thought they could have come up with something really special to comemorate 25 years. Oh well, what do I know, I'm just an idiot who works in marketing ...

Maybe they'll do a big 30th Anniversary Collectors like they did with the CL and the Adamas lines. |

If they are still only making xx number of Collectors each year, and as I understand it, they must fit into a certain price range too. That limits things. At the same time, it's not the same as the production models, so those that have one of every collector guitar I'm sure will be very happy. |

Having said that, I'm sure it's a fine guitar but not for me. |

In addition to the new bowl and the voice, the 2005C was almost a beauty for its simplicity...allowing the quality of the Englemman spruce top and the ebony fretboard to "shine".
Unless the epaulets were inlaid abalone, the subtle contrast of the epaulets are a great touch. :p :p |

The combination of that epaulette on that top makes me think of some really old cheese
that someone left on the cutting board . . . |

We've had Epaulets, Cheaplets, Shitlets. Now we've got CHEESELETS.
Cliff, you are SO much more insightful than your physical looks would lead people to believe ...

Location: Chehalis, Washington | See, I think so too - I like contrast, but I've never quite been up for the black on light color combinations. I much prefer the walnut most of the time to ebony on bridges/pegheads.
I would have done both in the spalt if possible - that would have been something pretty cool. |
