Who's Doing What With What? A Melissa Etheridge ad is slated for fall publication, a live shot of Melissa with her Adamas. Still in the midst of her International tour with typical success and her latest release "Your Little Secret" continues to fair well on the charts. Bassist Mark Browne is enjoying his new Viper Bass. This will be Melissa's first endorsement since her Adamas string ad in 1990. Al Di Meola has just completed his latest recording project and will be out again with the Super Trio. Al still prefers his Custom Legends. Sting's guitarist, Dominic Miller, has recently taken delivery of his 1996 Collector's and absolutely loves it! Slated to begin their next project, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are taking a few weeks of R&R after finishing their International tour. Jimmy's custom roundback Doubleneck held rank among his acoustics throughout the tour. The Bob Seger tour finished up June 21st...in none other than his hometown of Detroit. Adamas guitars were used by guitarist Mark Chatfield for approximately 1/3 of the show. Incidentally, Mark is the owner of Cowtown Music in Columbus, Ohio. This tour is currently in second place for "Top Grossing Acts". Ovation artists Davey Johnstone, John Jorgenson and Bob Birch have just returned from England and the recording of Elton John's Greatest Hits LP. Although Davey has recorded with Elton from the beginning, it was a first for John and Bob with Elton in the studio. An Ovation Mandocello, Mandolin, Viper, a LongNeck and an Elite Bass were all used in the tracking. REO Speedwagon is touring again this summer...equipped with Vipers and an Ovation Classic. Their set will open with a Viper front and center. Neil Diamond is out on tour in support of his new CD Tennessee Moon. His band is equipped with a variety of Ovations. OVATION IN NASHVILLE Shania Twain was recently spotted twice in as many days on national television with her sleek black Viper. Once on the Tonight show with Jay Leno and the following night on the Academy of Country Music Awards telecast where she took home among other awards, "Best New Female Artist". Her guitarist, Dan Shaefer, also uses a Viper. Vince Gill reports his nylon string Viper served him well during the recording of his most recent release "High Lonesome Sound". Kaman Music has been credited in liner notes. Once again, Kaman Music will be an official sponsor of Vince's Pro-Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament, "The Vinny". Kaman Music will provide a custom made Elite and Mandolin featuring the tournament's official logo (see photo). The ACMA's "Best New Vocal Group" Lonestar recently placed an order for a Custom Legend with a special finish, the state flag of Texas. The Lonestar flag is lead singer's Richie McDonald trademark. The custom guitar will be featured in the band's next video. Speaking of mandolins, Alabama, Trisha Yearwood, Great Plains and Amy Grant will all be touring this summer with the Ovation Mandolin. Meanwhile, the Elite Bass is carrying the bottom for Kyle Tullis of the Patty Loveless Band, and for Bryan White's bassist. Barbara Mandrell recently sent her cherished 1986 Collector's in for "a check up" in in preparation of her upcoming tour. |
