Erik-

I have a Godin Multiac Steel Duet guitar (non synth), and it's a great guitar. It's a bit lacking in fullness (IMHO) for solo guitar strumming, but I like a bassier, thicker sound compared to some. In a band or duo situation it's great.

I thought I'd just suggest that you be sure and try one if you can before purchasing, as you might be surprised if you actually haven't heard one.

As far as a guitar I'd buy other than Ovation...I dunno. My first thought is a Hamer. I'm dying for a good tele. A National would be rather cool too.

Yairi- Only mentions once, they are great guitars, especially for the money. I just picked up a 20 year old Yairi acoustic doubleneck. It is an amazing guitar. But I am hooked on doublenecks.

Deffinitely Martin,(I have two). The Callaway models mentioned by cwk2 are also among my favorites, but this time of the year in Ohio they can be difficult to play.

Okay here goes the vote for the Martin I am just about to drop $2100 on with Elderly.com. The Martin OMC-Aura. If anyone has heard/seen what the Aura electronics from Fishman the sound is AMAZING. Given my allegiance to the Pug-it in philosophy this is a sensible decision for me. Plus the OMC is a great style and value for a traditional built Martin.

On another note I just bought a Brian Moore 2.13 with Roland 13 pin to use with the synth. So many guitars so little time. Oh yes I did just get a great comission paid ona deal I was nursing for 2 years hence the spendathon!!

These plus the ADII-4 from Papa Al have made me very happy :-)

If money was no object? A James Olsen or Del Langejans.

Strummin, I've never played a multiac or heard one in person. In fact, the first tim e I ever saw one was on David Byrne's Live from Union Chapel DVD, and I believe that one is a nylon. I'd have to play one before spending that much on it, though! Of course, finances won't allow, right now!

I've already answered this one in an earlier post : A Paragon custom order!

I sold 3 Great Ovations to pay for it : my 1537, the Adamas II, and my Glen Campbell 12-string. I miss all three to be sure and I won't see my guitar until August, but I really wanted a hand made, ordered to my spec's guitar.

I still have my Custom Legend, UK-II, 1613 Classical, and Ultra bass to keep me from being kicked out of here!

Takamine. Probably soemthing from the Nashville series. My 94 SF is a wonderful guitar and I've never been dissappointed in it's performance. Taks are given the same disrespect that our Ovations receive. The upper end Taks can rival the best of the best for half the price.

Most likely a Taylor T5. But I don't like that it does not have through-bridge strings.

Or a Godin Flat Five X. Crikey! Did Godin recently discontinue the Flat Five? It's not shown on their web site any more!

U.S. made Hamer Duotone.

I'm speaking from ignorance, having played none of those guitars. But I'm lusting for a thin hollow-body electric/piezo-acoustic guitar, and those have good reputations.

Probably a Larivee or if I really wanted to spend some serious money, a Santa Cruz. But which model? I don't know. I just know that these are great builders.

There is a company out there that makes guitars that a very similar to Ovation. They are a little cheaper in quality but a lot cheaper in price. The company is Applause.

A Fylde, Maurice Dupont or an Alan Arnold. Would depend on my mood and how much money I had. If we're talking HUGE money then a John Monteleone or a Linda Manzer or a Steve Klein.

Wow, I started this poll 10 months ago?

In 2005 I have bought 2 Martins, 1 Hamer, 1 Oscar Schmidt uke, 3 Bushman uke, 1 Blackbear uke and 1 Kamaka uke. I sold 1 Martin uke and 1 Kamaka uke.

On the Ovation side I bought 5 (2005ES, CL Contour, Artist Balladeer, 1537, John Lennon). I sold 7 (2005ES, 1537, Legend, Custom Legend, Adamas II cutaway, 6773 Country Artist, Thunderhead).

Overall I'd say I broke pretty much broke even for the year.

I happen to love both Ovation and Martin, so my choice for a non-O would be very obvious. Honestly, I'd rather have both, cos it just doesn't seem the same in my household without one or the other.
