If you were forced to buy a NON Ovation guitar for under $2500, what brand would you buy?

Tony, several things under the new system seem to be off.

The time is one and all the polls total 110%.
Just a couple of things I have noticed so far.

Great updates to the system tho. I really like this quick reply feature.

Larrivee, no question. I already have a Larrivee flame maple parlor(one of the new U.S.-made gloss finish ones, not the older Canadian-made matte finish), and it is wonderful!

I'd go for a Larrivee 000-50 12-fret-to-the-body slothead.

I am deeply hurt Dave!

You did not include Tacoma! Made say "Other" like so many Third Party Voters. ;)

They actualy put the soundhole in a place it belongs on their coolest models. I would love to see a competitor from Ovation to take on their Papoose 6 and Papoose 12 strings.

I've always liked the Guild Jumbos, Pre-Fender That is.. so probably a guild for me, but That is so hard to say with out being in the position to have to try or buy another guitar that was a non-ovation.

I'd go for a Lowden, though it'd have to be used.

Hey Steve, I traded my Jumbo Maple Guild straigt up for my first Adamas. That guild (circa 89) was a fine instrument, but I have no regrets.

..for $2500, I would still have 'em make me a custom order...a relatively small amount to spend on an instrument I've been playing so long..

Umm, well, being a Beatle fan, I'd get a Gibson J-160E. Thank God this is only a theoretical situation though! Like the old Tareyton ciggy commercials, "I'd rather fight than switch..."

Hmmmm. . . . Actually, I'd think seriously about not playing anymore. Or if someone takes my O's and is going to replace them with anything I want, I go for a vintage Gibson ES-335TD. Then I sell the Gibson and buy a new O.
Does that count?

hmmmmmm......no question about it, a PRS McCarty, yeah I know....I'm a sell out, but I own a PRS Santana SE (1st edition) and it plays as nice as my Preacher and Viper, not quite as fast as My Deacon, and a lot more punch than my Hamer (like the one Standing just "picked up"). I'm really let down that the new Gibbys and Finkers that I've tried lately just don't seem as nice as my old O's or even the LP DC jr. that I owned before I found Ovation.....but hey what faith can you put in me....I love Marshalls as well......

If I was going to buy new non-Ovation guitar it would be this one

http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=247&CollectionID=15

It's basically a re-vamped 30's Gibson Roy smeck Stage Deluxe. It's made in China, solid cedar top & solid rosewood back/sides. It costs around a grand $USD & it pissed over every other guitar I tried at the NAMM show, including all the Ovations, Tayors, Martins, Larrivees, Goodalls, Bourgoise, Collings, Santa Cruz, you name 'em. Right next to it was a USA-made Paul McCartney signature Epiphone Texan at around $5K. It pissed all over that too. You may remember this guitar Mr Moody? No surprise that it's a 12-fret slot-head.

I'd get a Tacoma, then a Tacoma, and if all else failed, a Tacoma.

A Martin, no doubt. You have to love a family owned business thats been going since 1833. Plus their guitars are excellent. You can buy most of their products for under $2500.

Next would be CA Guitars, these are all-graphite and supposed to be nearly indestructable, plus many claim they sound as good or better than most wooden dreadnaughts. I hear they run around $1600.

I'd probably say a Martin as well . . .
Just to "have" one.
Maybe an Ian Anderson model . . .

After visit'n with cwk and playin' a couple of those big ol' shiny metal jobbies, I think that someday I'd like to have a National . . for the porch.

Steel string Godin Multiac, or a Seagull. Possibly a Martin. I just find the Multiacs to be beautiful guitars.

I didn't see where it says "acoustic" or "six string" so:

Hamer of course...
and I'd like to check one of these out:

Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass
