I can get my hands on a UKII for about 360 euros (BigMacindex: about 360 USD). It does not have the original headstock cover nor the scratchplate.

Is this a reasonable price and would it be possible to get the pickguard and headstock cover somewhere? (Ovation maybe? Ovationfanclubmembers piling up stock maybe?).

Thx.

Martin

Martin,

It's a good price for a UKII if it's in a good condition.
This guitar is hard to find in Europe and is usually sold between 600 and 1000 euros in Europe!! And sometimes much more!!
I own this model (a very nice black one) and you can believe me, this is a really great guitar very easy to play and with an incredible sound especially on my Vox amp!!

I'm sure you can find on this board someone who can help you for the pickguard and the headstock cover.

Jérôme :)

Only the early UK II's had a pickguard.
Later models did without it.

Are you sure this one originally had one (screw holes in body, etc.)?

I know more about it now.
The serial is E+six digits, so it'is a '80 or '81 specimen. I'll post some pix this evening.

I'm thinking about buying this baby.

"...so it'is a '80 or '81 specimen..."

So it would never have had a pick guard.

I'm sure he is. I just found out it's hard to count. The serial is E12528 which, on second thoughts makes it E + 5 digits.

It's a great guitar and they sound better without the pickguard. I took mine off and it's one of the real early ones.
