I had a great opportunity to see Doyle last night in Atlanta. We sat on the front row and had a close unencumbered view of a man that has seriously mastered the guitar. If you ever get a chance to see him do yourself a huge favor and go.
Now what can Adamas do to get him as a spokesman even to the point of trading with Melissa? As good as Taylor’s may be he'd sound better on an Ovation.
After last night I'm not sure if I've been motivated to play better or just quit.

For some reason, I thought that Doyle played Takamine's . . . but I guess it WAS Taylor . .

. . . . those boxes "all look alike" anyhow . . :-)

FYI....Doyle Dykes is recovering from a recent operation. He had a tumor removed from the ear area. I understand he is now totally deaf in one ear and has some balance problems because of that. If you could not tell anything he must be doing okay.
The owner of the music store I go to is friends with Mr. Dykes and keeps us updated on his condition. I signed a get well card that was passed around the open mic night a couple months ago.

Taylor has a whole marketing campaign around Doyle Dykes. That said, the only reason I've ever heard about him is because of the Taylor marketing. Better for him than for Taylor I think. I think Ovation gets more exposure with their new endorsement by Nicky Sixx.

Saw Doyle Dykes perform and received some personal one-on-oneinstruction from him (Ok, me and about 800 others) at last year’s Christian Music Summit. Not only was he good, but he totally “owned” the instrument, song and the audience when he was playing!

At the time he was very proud of his “Doyle Dykes signature Taylor”. It had so much “Bling” on it I had to squint from the cheap seats!

Here’s a link to his site and it says he is recovering:

Since he also was once a “Hee Haw” band member I have ask how is “Goober” (Buddy Blacmon) doing – I haven’t seen him post for a while!

Doyles still has no hearing in one ear. He said his balance (which he had completely lost) has greatly improved. He only had to sit once during the show. For those of you that pray, he could use some for a complete healing. God is still in the miracle business.

I have heard Doyle Dykes play and I don't care if he played a Harmony Arch top from an Army day room, that guy can PLAY. He is one of the best in the world and I wish him well with his health problems. There aren't many around like him, and it would be great if he played Ovations but it doesn't change the fact that he is one in a million.

Let us all appreciate the Doyle Dykes of the world and suspect that they all play Ovations at home when their sponsors aren't watching.
