Does anyone know if these are still being produced? Anyone own one that can share their opinions on this model?

They are a custom order.

I would specify for it to be made on an LX platform (new bowl and neck, inlaiad epaulets, OP PRO).

As far as I'm aware Ovation have never produced an Octave Mandolin or a Mandola. They do however produce a mandocello, which has a considerably longer scale length (usually around 25") and is tuned 1 octave below tenor mandola. a Mandola has a scale length of around 17 inches and an octave mandolin, tuned 1 octave below mandolin has a scale length of around 22 inches, sometimes a little more.

I would think that's what he was talking about.

You all thought correctly! It was a mandocello that I was thinking of. Any of you currently own one? Curious, as I have never been able to try one out myself.

Yes, they're awesome. Will really wear your fingers out making chords.
