Ah, now I understand what all the fuss is about with Hamer electrics. :D

Very nice! I'm not a fan of red guitars, but THAT is very nice!

While there are a lot of things to look for in a quality guitar, and Hamer has all of them for what I can see... there are a few quick checks I do on any guitar since I was introduced to Hamer and this picture sums it up.

Pickup any supposed quality guitar, AFTER it's been setup to play, and see if the pickup tops, surround tops, the distances and surfaces are all parallel. It's a silly thing, doesn't affect the sound, wouldn't notice it if they weren't all lined up and you weren't specifically looking.... But I have never seen a Hamer that isn't lined up like that.

Of course the other item is the heel joint. And granted some Hamers are "Hamerized" I believe the term is... it's just another attention to detail that is many times overlooked on guitars that cost AT LEAST twice as much.

I've got one like that finished in Vintage Orange with the Bigsby. You've got to hold and play a Hamer to really understand how great the guitars really are. Congrats!

MWoody, you're gonna really like your Hamer. The workmanship is flawless, and it is a real dream to play. The finish is like they dipped it in glass.

And the tone! The Seth Lovers pickups are smoooth. Sustain, character, and a nice wood aroma from the body.

You may have to play hooky from work on Tuesday. :p

That's a Newport Pro. 2001 model year with Seth Lovers pickups. Rosewood fingerboard, solid spruce top, mahogany body and neck.

Some later models (like my 2004) have Duncan PhatCats in them.

After touring the Hamer shop during the 2007 tour, I knew I just had to have one. After six months of searching and never finding my "perfect" model, I finally custom ordered a blinged and repupped Monoco III through Al. If I could only keep one electric guitar, this would be it. I hope they're allowed to continue their autonomous operation under the FMIC umbrella. Members of the Hamer Fan Club forum are as fanatical about their Hamers as we are with our Ovations, and for very good reason.
