Hey, for those of you familiar with this model, is a 1537 Elite worth $800? It appears to be in very good condition.

Thanks.

If you are referring to the black one on ebay, it will most certainly go for far more than $800 once it gets to sniping time!
My name is on the list :D

I already have (first bidders were me and Jeff ) ...just currently not the top bidder. If I am successful, then I am selling the one I have to someone on the board for what I paid Tony for it (plus the $90 that I spent on set up, fret polishing, etc).

Can't remember who was gonna get lucky????

You gonna go after it? I will back off if you are (I want to make sure it ends up in OFC). Just thought a black one would be nice since most of my guitars are natural.

No... I know how much you want it.
I just thought I would "help" you out and bid it up to scare everyone else away.
Then you can snipe-in during the last 10 seconds and win it for $1500-$1600.

I haven't bought a guitar since... since... oh you remember, you told Cindy that the FD-14 would be "the last guitar I will ever need" :D

Only joking around with you. Since the FD-14 arrived, the steel sixes primarily being played have been the FD-14 and the '97wide. The FD-14 is everything said and more. I really like those 12 fret necks and the little extra finger room.

Thanks Noah and Stephen:
I didn't realize it was as valuable as what is sounds like it probably is. I like deep body O's and I'm loking for a good 6 string. Sounds like this one has a little extra going for it. And it looks like it's going to end up in the OFC...always good to see.

Noah....June is my last hurrah!

I have my eye on 2 pieces of candy (one the 1537) and after that, I am done for the year.

Will watch and drool from the sidelines as everyone else scoops up the short list prizes.

Oh....I might crawl out from hiding under my rock if a 1688 happens to fall near my feet :D but that would be it!

stellerjim....as I mentioned, if successful, I plan to sell the 1537 I got from Tony. Looks and plays terrific. Can't remember who asked about it first, but you could certainly be 2nd on the list.

Price will be worth the wait!

Aren't you the guy I sold my FD-14 to? That's gotta be worth moving me up a notch!

"Can't remember who asked about it first"

I think that would be me, but I hoped you'd wait a couple months to let my wife calm down from my purchase of the Classic and Balladeer on the same day.
She actually tried to get me the last 1537 on ebay for my birthday. It was the first and only time she ever did an ebay bid. Maybe she'll remember how much I wanted that 1537. She does think 6 guitars are a bit much and we just started remodelling our vacation home, went to Italy and have a daughter starting college next fall. Her priorities aren't quite the same, but probably a lot more practical. I'm rooting for you on the one on ebay, though.

Good job, Stephen.
I tried to watch it last night, but my wife was on the computer and I didn't think she'd like the explanation about how I wanted to root for you so you'd sell me yours.
This one looks to be in better shape than the one that sold a couple months ago for $1125. I prefer natural guitars over black ones Stephen. I am ready and willing to by yours. I'm not too able right now. I'll have to negotiate with my wife first.

You beat me out at the last second. OK...now that the bidding's over, what was your max bid. Just wanted to see how close I was!

Once I get it in house and aclimate it to the other members of the stable, I will be selling off one of the 1537s. No need for being greedy with 2 of these wonderful guitars when I can share the wealth with another lucky OFC member.

I assume the issues with your 1537 that you got from Tony have to do with the screw hole somebody put in the bottom of the neck, (I figured out how to Search) but I'm still interested.

Actually, not an issue with me. The guitar sounds and plays beautifully and Tony did an incredible job with the screw hole repair.....wouldn't even realise it was not supposed to be there without prior knowledge.

It's just the vast majority of my guitars (95%) are natural and I wanted a bit of color (which is why the black 1537 was of interest to me!)

Notice I said "one" of the 1537's will be going to a new home. If the black one doesn't sound as good as the natural, I will happily keep the natural and sell off the black one.
