I bet everyone has an oddity or two somewhere on their hard drive.
Let me know if you are interested and I'll e-mail you the compressed m-peg file.

On the 2000 Tour, Townshend kept a video diary for himself and for fans on his website. Here are a couple of the enteries that I have.

1) Townshend plays a fast fingered riff on a Collings.
2) Townshend plays "Tattoo" in the dressing room.

Brad, you have a gift for exposing the most dangerous ideas. Stop it.

These would be the Oddites from the land of Odd I presume? (One Nation Under Odd) :)

I also doubt Pete Townsend's video diaries would make it past a porn filter. They didn't make it past the judge over here. How a judge and jury could not believe that a 60 year old rockstar was doing serious academic research into child pornography is beyond me.

I did not intend for the thread to go this way. And I'm not going to rush in to defend anyone. But I will say that Townshend has done alot of charity work for abused kids over the years. The proceeds from his live solo CD from the House of Blues in Chicago go to a home for abused kids. Years before his recent public incident he was very vocal on his website about fighting child porn on the web. And also long before, he talked about doing an autobiography dealing with the abuse in his youth.
I can't say I know the whole story. And I would be interested in schroeder's take on the situation.

If it was true research as he claimed he could have gone thru channels that would at least given him some accreditation/get out clause. Apart from the charity work you mention in the States he has been a director of one of the big publishing houses in this country for many years. He really has no excuse for downloading and storing stuff on his harddrive and coming up with the reasons later. It's difficult to accept "it was just a stupid mistake" from someone who is plainly not stupid.
It doesn't make me feel any different about The Who and their music, any more than the fact that Wagner was a Nazi and Beethoven was a psycho stops me listening to their music.
The strange thing with Townsend is that, unlike Michael Jackson and a couple of other British pop stars who were caught by the same hook, Townsend appears to have had his transgressions completely ignored (and forgiven) by press and public alike.
Didn't mean to throw a wet blanket on your thread Brad - sorry. I don't have any interesting stuff on my hard drive, and if I did my technical department is at school at the moment so I wouldn't know how to find it.
