this is my first posting on the forum.
I have been playing guitar on and off for the last 25 years. The last 5 years I have gotten pretty serious about it. I have owned and sold one Gibson, three Tacoma, one Alvarez, one Martin and a couple of classicals over the last couple of years and I have never once considered an Ovation.
Two days ago I was stopping by the Guitar Center and decided to check out a Fender Acoustasonic. The first electric-acoustic guitar I saw was a inexpensive Ovation cc057.
Holy Cow!!!! I love the sound of that guitar plugged in.
I tuned it to open d and played a couple of songs. Little Martha never sounded so good. At least not when I played it.
Today I traded in my Morgan Monroe banjo for an Ovation cc057.
I still will play my Martin around the house but I will use the Ovation plugged in.
I almost forgot to ask my question.
Would the cc057 fit into a classical guitar case?

Location: Hicksville, NY | Hello and welcome to the OFC! I, too play with my Martin (sometimes with condenser mics), but I use my Ovation mostly plugged in.
I've never owned a classical guitar, so I'm sorry that I am not the person who can answer your question. I do know that Ovations fit perfectly well with a KACES III gig bag. It's heavily padded, it holds the neck very well, and readily available at GC. I bought mine last year for 30 bucks (incl. tax). Just in case, the classical case doesn't work, perhaps, you have the gig bag as an option?

Location: Phoenix AZ | Some classical cases may be too short for the 057 and if the case is deep, as most clasical bodies are, the 057 body will sit at a funny angle causing the neck to stick "up". You could of course fix this by putting some padding in the bottom of the body compartment. By the way, Ovation also makes some nice classicals designed for plugged in playing. Dave |

I'm more of an electric guitar guy myself, but do have a Takamine acoustic that I play. Someday I'll have an O. Been eyeballin' an '05 collectors edition now for about a month. :D |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Cheese, you should not be allowed to join the OFC and jump right to the "top" of the line with an '05 collector. You need to pay your dues like the rest if us did. You need to experience some of the following: lacquer cracks from 5 point bridges, broken off headstocks from too steep angle, peeling rosettes, bowls slipping off your knee, lose and stripped battery attachment screws, vibrating wires against the underside of the soundboard, cases that crack from the cold, sound choaking VT bracing, static from oxidized sliders on pre-amps, fretboard binding cracks, sunken soundboards, headstock logos that rub off, etc, etc, etc. And now you want to jump clear to the cream of the crop for your very first Ovation? I personally vote against it. Dave
PS - Truth is I can't think of a much better 1st Ovation than the '05. If you wait until next year to buy one you can have the added pleasure of saying you bought "vintage". |

I think I am just going to mail order the Ovation case. I tried to fit the guitar into the case for my Martin om but it was not a great fit.
Since I like the cc057 so much I am now thinking about a Ovation 12-string for Christmas.
