Hey all,

Just so you know, I'm going to be heading out to NYC today. I'm going to be going to The Producers broadway show on Tuesday, but before and after that, I'll be looking at a lot of guitar and music shops to try out things I'll never be able to afford.

Have fun while I'm gone,
Steve

I know this is late but, for anyone who hasn't seen it, that is a great show! Classic Mel Brooks comedy.

Yeah, this show is outstanding, even better than the original movie!

A few years ago, we had third row (with Nathan Lane & Matthew Broderick). I laughed so hard I almost asphixiated. GREAT show!

48th St. would be the place t'go (tho' it's nowhere NEAR the glory of what it used t'be when I was a kid). There's the the big, mondo-boffo Guitar Center on Union Square, and if you feel like venturing over to StatenIsland, of course there's MandoBros. and lots of expensive EyeCandy (but don't expect t'see many O's).

Enjoy the Show!!!

My hotel was on Times Square, so I went to SamAsk, Manny's and Rudy's music.

I didn't like Rudy's...I went in there, and a guy just followed me around...normally that's a good thing. A nice guy would ask me "What would you like
to play?" or "Need a pick?".

But this guy didn't say ANYTHING. There were expensive guitars in there, I guess he was just keeping an eye on us, but he could've been a little nicer so it seemed like he was trying to sell us something instead of stalking us...

SamAsk was kind of cramped, and full of a lot of kids around 15-20. Now I know I'm that age, but it looks like these guys just invited their buddies to keep playing guitar. Once again, I was never welcomed even though there were plenty of staff. But at least they weren't stalking me :p

I liked Manny's quite a bit. Good guitars, nice people, not too crowded.

I didn't buy anything (I live 7 hours away), but I played some stuff.

Overall, I gotta say it, I preferred good ol' Guitar Center. I've always had nice people working there who let me play whatever I want, and came back to see how I was doing, what else I wanted to play, suggestions, etc.
