The Manager really liked it, ordered it and due to our Walmart-lovin-low-end-mentality out here they can't sell it. I sure wish I knew how to play one! It felt great to me! I just posted the other day on the Hamer Museum board that a birdseye Newport would be killer (in response to KeyOfZ's post about his birdseye Artist). I'd even consider one over an Improv. Or, maybe not. :)

Actually, while the natural looks nice (and is my favorite finish), the burst that KoZ got on his Artist turned out quite well. Very warm looking. The only problem I have with 12-stringers is that the headstocks always look out of proportion. (begin secret decoder wheel encoded message to Al) I adn't-hay ecked-chay into the FC-Hay in a ong-lay ime-tay. I ickly-quay ecked-chay ack-bay t-ouay. Ame-say it-shay, iffernt-day osts-pay. TOP-STAY More pics, I say! Even if it does have a canoe paddle for a neck! Say...did Hamer ever do a full-bodied jazz box (did I already ask this?)?

My first (and so far only) Hamer is the 96 Studio FM I had to beg Al to sell me (not really, I think I've told the story about buying it sight unseen...not even pictures!...because Al is *that* trustworthy). The fit/finish/workmanship/materials blow away any of the guitars from the big G that I've had occassion to smear up. Especially considering the price. I wonder if the Newports get a warm, woody tone or if they're more 'electric' like, say, an ES335?
