Check this out, current bidding at $3,775 USD. Bill has #1 he'd probably sell for half that...I have one I would sell for 1/4 that.

Must be the warm beer.

They are worth far more without strings; a fact known to collectors who pay up to $25k for such things.

That's $5000 Australian. I noticed it a couple of days ago when the bidding was at around the $300AUD mark. I was concerned that such a fine USA made Ovation wasn't getting any interest as I will soon be selling a 1768 Elite, and I want at least $2000AUD for it.

I wonder if I'll get 5 grand for mine - it's 20 years newer!

And we DON'T drink warm beer in Australia!!!!!

(Reminds me of a joke I heard when I lived in Canada-
Question; What has making love on a river bank got in common with American Beer?
Answer; F*cking near water!)

Hope that doesn't get me kicked off the forum as I've just joined.

You can stay as long as you don't talk about water too much.

That reminds me of why W.C. Fields never drank water. Fish f*ck in it.

I emailed this guy when he started his auction and suggested--in not so many words--that he was gonna be very dissapointed if he really thought he would get anywhere near 25K for it. I also suggested that rather than risk violating Ebay rules by refusing to part with it if he didn't get "a respectable offer or price," to just put a reserve on it. His response was "I don't have to put a reserve on it, and no one can make me sell it if I don't want to." He then asked me to make him an offer. I wrote back and offered him my best good luck wishes on his auction.

No doubt he realized that his whole math (and that of all bidders) was off by one decimal place. or maybe they ran our of warm beer and finally sobored up. Dave

Either that, or someone offered him $25K and he came to the sad conclusion that no one was going to offer more. :(
