Joined: July 2003 Posts: 1922 Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I'VE DONE IT, PAUL.......I started out with EJ15s on the CC01 Celeb I used to have, back 2 years ago when I was getting back into playing. It indeed does cost tone and some volume. Not a good thing to do unless you need the string tension reduction for being nice to the fingers. OR....perhaps one might WANT the bright tone. It's valid, just not that commonly done. If brightness is desired, though, the guitar would usually be strung for and tuned in Nashville tuning. I keep EJ15s on my 1976-vintage AA14-4 Applause to keep the stress down on that old top (I rarely play it). Roger | ||

Joined: June 2002 Posts: 863 Location: Central Florida | FWIW, Besides the loss of tone and volume, I also find extra light strings on an acoustic to be a pain if you use a capo. They don't like to stay in tune when you capo up on 'em. Jeff | ||
