My favorite one to play is the schmaltzy jazz version of "Santa Clause is Coming to Town" that I worked up a couple of years ago. My favorite one to hear is..."O Holy Night" or maybe "Silent Night", or maybe "I Wonder as I Wander", or maybe.......I love 'em all!

I get them caught in my head early in the season and it doesn't take much to start me whistling. The Christmas Song is a favorite, as is Winter Wonderland.
I really like O Holy Night for singing, mostly because of the crescendos at the end.

chip davis' (mannheim steamroller's) version of "silent night" is very moving. i don't care much for the light show in this video but i was unable to locate a clip otherwise. give a listen just for the arrangement.

"Song for a Winter's Night" by Gordon Lightfoot.

Not strictly a Christmas song, but close enough for me.

It's not gonna come close to displacing O Magnum Mysterium as my favorite, but I just got through listening to God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen by the Yuletide Lounge Band on the Martinis and Mistletoe album and -hot dang- those guys cook. For a disc I got as a lark it has certainly exceeded expectations.

I was captivated this year by the Celtic Woman Christmas concert DVD. Extraordinary singers with wonderful arrangements backed by excellent musicians and choir. Leave it to the Irish to come through again.... There's not a lot of guitar in it, but that's forgivable this time.

My new favorite is The Wexford Carol - which I learned from this concert, and I've spent many hours this last week working on a suitable arrangement. David Downes is an arranger that makes me want to go burn all my arrangements.

My favorite Christmas song will be whatever is the last one I hear this year. I am SO FRIED OUT on Christmas music. It's everywhere always from Halloween through New Years. There is no escape!!! Right now I'd rather hear Beach Boys than one more Christmas tune.

I recently had the opportunity to play in a combo with Jack Byrd, Charlie's brother. Different approach, but still very good.
