Location: Tennessee | The Pinnacles were the top of the overseas line. The 3862 is a solid top, super-shallow bowl. They are very nice guitars. Not sure if they were made in Japan or Korea, but I think both ... just depends on earlier or later. The japanese were doing exceptional guitar work during the 80's ... many of my fender friends swear that the MIJ guitars of the 80's were superior in every way to the US made models.
OT: The Pinnacles is also a little mountain range just east of the Monterey/Salinas area of No Cal. At the foot of these hills is a little winery called Chalone Vineyards ... which makes outstanding Chardonnay, and an even better Pinot Noir. Less than half the price of anything out of Napa/Sonoma/Alexander Valley, and as good as anything regardless of price. stonejoebobbo sez check it out. |

Location: Minden, Nebraska | All of the Pinnacles I have had, a dozen or so, were made in Japan and were made well. They similar in quality and price to the basic USA Balladeer model. Maybe CWK can tell us exactly why they were discontinued after only two years.
I believe they all had FET3 preamps. What is the difference between the FET3 and the OP24?
As to Chalone Vineyards, they are outstanding. |
