I would guess it was made in the late 70s, early eighties. Where do people come up with these years?????

I politely emailed pandoramma and explained that in 1950'S Ovation hadn't gotten around to building their first guitar just yet.

More likely mid-seventies...foil label and volume only knob.

Probably more like early to mid '70's because of the single volume knob....

You guys are sooo cynical. If he says it's a 1950's Ovation, then it is. He wouldn't lie. All sellers on ebay are knowledgable and honest.

I think I'll list my pre-war 1537 on the bay.

20k reserve.

Didn't Frankie Valli play one in "Beach Blanket Bingo"?

It can't be a 50's guitar, plastic wasn't invented yet...

It looks like it's in pretty good shape, but do I detect two nylon strings with ball ends: the G and B strings? I wonder how that adds up to "it's all about TONE!"

;)

That was the same guitar Sheriff Andy Taylor used play on his front porch every evening in Mayberry... Yeah, I remember now...

The latter of which more than likely has a purple Martin "Signature" model . . . .

Ahhh, now I see... The lack of a pickguard made me think he played a 50's Ovation, not a Martin. ;)
