**OVATION 2009 COLLECTORS’ SERIES**

Ovation’s 2009 Collectors’ series strikes a perfect balance between acoustic purity and electric performance. A hand-selected figured Koa top produces warm, full-bodied tones while its lightweight Contour body pumps out plenty of volume. Abalone appointments give the guitar a distinctive look, adorning its delicate Celtic knot rosette and fingerboard. An additional 200 pieces of abalone frame the top. Ovation’s OP Pro Studio preamp powers the electric side and features exclusive “expressor”/drive controls that accentuate each individual note when playing finger style or single note passages. Additional features include a deep contour GS body, Scalloped LX bracing, 5-piece mahogany/maple neck and ebony fingerboard.

Production will be limited to 150 sequentially numbered pieces worldwide. Retail: $3599 including deluxe molded case.

Or you can buy a Lost Art Limited edition koa for LESS!!!!!!

Check out the 2009 Ovation Collectors’ Series and other Ovation guitars at Winter NAMM booth #5720. Visit Ovation online at www.OvationGuitars.com and www.adamasguitars.com.

Sounds nice. Koa top with bling. The factory must've taken a liking to the Koala models. Gotta check this one out.

Yup, just further reinforces what a brilliant frigging idea building those Al Pep Koa's was. Hat's off to the Lost Art Vintage marketing department.

I'll have to see this '09 before passing judgement. Sounds like it could be an interesting guitar, and quite rare. Yes, the iDEA pre-amp would have been a great touch.

As nice as this '09 might be, the problem yet again is that in the 3k price range it's competing with some real heavy hitters - Martin HD28, Collings D1, Guild D55. That's a tough crowd to steal buyers away from.

Anyway, time will tell.

My experience is that Al + Koa + Ovation = one happy camper.

Sounds like another winner.

First Impressions:

Leave the iDea for a more "utilitarian" learning/writing guitar. If yer gonna' blow the buck$ on a "Collector's Edition", you've got the the $300(or whatever) t'blow on a swap-out iDea.

I'm surprised about the koa, too.
Heck... there is still an '06 collector at the local (not GC), music store.
Of course he is asking WAY to much for it. The price on the tag has been chasing people way for over 2 years now.

Brad, I'm sure the price tag is more than reasonable, if it's GC it'll be way less than RRP. It's consumer perception about what an Ovation such as that should cost which is always the stumbling block. But that's opening a whole 'nother can of marketing worms, so.......

I think that Al still has at least one '08C available: IMHO: That is THE ONE to have...I'm sure this will be a nice guitar...but MY 08C floats my boat just fine...

or one of Al's KOA's...absolutely beautiful...

Cliff, I think you may have nailed this one...
Still, I'll be looking at the pic's...

I'm sure the '09 will be a fine guitar but the list price of 3599. just has me staggering a bit. I won't bury it until I hear it, but for that money it would have to be THE BEST wood topped guitar that Ovation ever built, and by a wide margin.

Maybe Guild has rubbed off some miracles but I don't know. In the current economic state, and knowing the history of Ovation collectors series depreciating like a mofo, dropping Martin or Collings kind of money on an Ovation would be a HUGE leap of faith. But hey, who knows maybe the really did it this time. Anxious to hear it.

Leave the iDea for a more "utilitarian" learning/writing guitar. If yer gonna' blow the buck$ on a "Collector's Edition", you've got the the $300(or whatever) t'blow on a swap-out iDea.

I gotta disagree. The Collectors have ALWAYS had the leatest and greatest preamps. With the iDea, you've got what everyone says is the coolest, most advanced preamp ever put out by the King of Preamps. And if I'm dropping $3K on the Collectors, I don't want to have to pony up more money to get the latest and greatest. Not because I can't afford it ... it just seems lame.

P.S. I can't wait to see pictures. They're'll be a thousand words there.

No chance that offer is retroactive...

I can't see much better than an 08 collector and a Koa LAV special on the wall.
