Joined: June 2006 Posts: 7307 Location: South of most, North of few | On the VIP preamp, It seems on mine, you can activate the tuner without the dummy (or regular) 1/4" plug, by just putting your finger on the XLR out on the guitar. It seems the conductivity of your finger, (especially if its a little damp) activates the preamp. I noticed this by accidentally touching the out and saw the light blink on the amp. It's kind of a pain to hold your finger there and pluck the string, but in a pinch, it seems to work. Maybe mine is just a fluke, someone else try this and let us know. | ||

It's like there's a tapered shim under there, but there isn't. I wonder who many of us here has a 1680? I adjusted the neck SLIGHTLY and getting really used to it's feel. Going back to a wood top is not going to be easy or pleasant. | ||

Joined: June 2006 Posts: 7307 Location: South of most, North of few | OK, this has gone from a finger that is a little moist from normal humidity in Florida to a finger that has made a trip around the inside of someone's mouth and then spit on. You don't have to get your finger wet to make it work, and I believe it's accomplishing the same thing a 1/4" jack does when it hits the contacts in the jack. I don't think "the company" would design an open jack (xlr) that would damage the system if someone inadvertently touched the prongs. :rolleyes: | ||
