Location: Boise, Idaho | Anybody know anything about a Hamer Tele? There's one locally about 3 years old for $200. I thought it was a TLE, but the guy said it was made in Japan and was a Tele, not a TLE. I couldn't find anything on Hamer's website or the fan club. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I found that, but this guy claims that it is only 3 years old and is made in Japan. He works for a music store (for years) that is an Ovation dealer and is a hell of a guitar player. Did they make them until 3 years ago? If so, it might be a good deal at $200, except that my wife will kill me. And I can't play anything on an electric. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Mark, could be an import. The TLE was made in Chicago back in the 80's. Set necks and nice guitars. The T51 was a bolt-on, also from Chicago. That price for an import isn't too bad. Are you sure it's from Japan and not the garlic eating country? |

Here's a US-ian T-51 on feeBay that I've been watching. I'm tempted, but really would prefer a bucker in the neck. If only Al had a G&L ASAT Special Deluxe semi-hollowbody or ASAT Junior for me. ;) |

Beautiful shape, but the guy was literally moving out of the house when I got there and it took forever just to find the guitar and nothing to plug it in. He had removed the name from the headstock, but the serial number was still on the back on a decal. I believe I read that the USA ones were stamped into the head. The guitar itself was perfect and it came with a Hamer USA case. Ash brown burst body with maple bolt on neck and maple fretboard. He would have taken less than $200 and I think it it would have been worth it, but I don't use the electric guitar that I have and I was afraid if I bought it I'd have to give my daughter my Balladeer for Christmas. |

Location: atlanta | Captain I think that's a great idea, and I will supply the boiled peanuts and Moon Pies! I always go to great lengths to reinforce all those Northerners' (used to call them 'damn yankees', you know) ridiculous stereotypes of us "Southern Gentlemen".
Seriously, I'll plan a get together just as soon as I can. The main problem these days is that Kaki is on the road almost continuously until the spring of '06! Her plan is to divide her "home" time between New York City and Atlanta, so I expect to see a lot more of her than in previous years. An OFC party at the new studio sounds like fun to me.

Location: Boise, Idaho | Sorry to hijack your thread. I pmd cruster about the ebay Hamer and then looked closed at the ebay pictures. The one I looked at is the same as far as I can tell. It even had the same little vent holes in the back. What throws me is the guy removed the headstock decal (probably to try to pretend it was a Fender) but it still had a decal of the serial number on the back of the head. I thought all USA Hamers had stamped serial numbers.
If this is a USA Hamer, I need to buy it no matter what sort of grief my wife gives me. |

Moon Pies is OK, but some white litenin' is also apropoh.
I learned a little about Southern hospitality and intellectual acumen when I attended William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in the 1950s. Some of those professors had a surprisingly grasp of world affairs even though they pronounced "about" as "aboot". It may have stemmed from the fact that many of those "Fathers of our Country", were from the very areas that people associate with southern rednecks and crackers, when most of these lower type criminals were visitors from the "enlightened" north looking for new areas to swindle.
The South is going to rise again!!! And Al better be ready to give them an honest price on those gitters, or be hunted down like the man who shot Lincoln.
Just a rant from someone who loved the south, and saw it at it's worse. There was segregation when I was there in 1954 and I saw it destroy a talented black sergeant who had lived in Hawiia and was transferred to Ft Eustis, VA and found that the housing off base was segregated and that he and his beautiful wife couldn't go to a decent restaurant in Newport News, even though the Korean bullets had no such discrimination, and killed people of all races in that frozen hell.
I say forget the Moon Pies, etc. America is not two realities anymore. The "south' has forgotten it's prejudices and moved on. The North preserves them with attacks on any black that manages to escape the ghetto and succeed. Note Condi, Powell, and Clarence.
I love the blues, and they weren't invented by any white man I know, I learned some of them from a 13 year old boy in a Newport News "house", run by his mother, that we frequented as soldiers, who was so good I gave him one of my best guitars and never went back because I had better things to do than perpetuate the degredation some people had to suffer to make a living in the "old" south.
