Hi there, I am new to this list so please bear with me. I have been offered an Ovatio electro/acoustic guitar, dunno much about it but it does look and sound in good nick. Man.no. appears to be CS 167 but I can find no reference to it in the Ovation web site. Can anyone offer some help or info on this type of guitar. What might it be worth in Good or very good condition?
I await your replies with anticipation, thanks.

Welcome aboard, hiflier. I believe you may be our first member from Scotland. We've attracted a couple from the UK, France and Germany and even one or two from Austrailia so you're in good company! You also come to the right place for information as the members here are knowledgeable and open to sharing.

Members? What do you have on the CS 167 for our newest OFC'er?

Wheezeman,
I'm thinking you may want to duck about now.
I think you'll find there might be a Scotsman or two hereabouts.

Oop. Certainly no offense meant and sincere apologies extended if I missed any honorable members from Scotland. I guess tonight's nightly beating to keep me in line will be somewhat deserved then. Gotta earn 'em every once in a while.

Piper doon! I'd guess the guitar is worth about 150 to 200 dollars American. Maybe more if it is a nice player. I'm not sure how many quid that is, or what they go for in the highlands. I believe it is a Korean built Celebrity, but those folks have been known to make some good instruments. What you are willing to pay the seller, and how hungry he is, is what it's worth. The guitar is probably not a collectors item, so haggle accordingly. Welcome to the fold, and Good Luck!

Is it true that copper wire was invented by two Scotsmen fighting for a half penny?

(yes, I will resend my membership forthwith.)

Great, folk are talking to me, seems like I will be the butt off some jokers for a while but maybe there will be a bit of help as well. So who can tell me some facts about this type of guitar, or where might I look them up myself? It would be appreciated if I could get some serious information, it is to be a pressie and I do not want to buy a bit of tat.
Alternatively can anyone direct me to a good, reasonably priced elec/acoustic Ovation? Remember I am in Scotland so post from U.S. might be a problem.

I did give you some serious info if you scroll up a few posts

...shipping the UK/GB is about $100.00 dollars with insurance. I know, cause I've shipped two guitars there recently.

The model you inquired about is a Celebrity Standard. Not USA made. In excellent condition it would go $350-450.

Now, Jeffy... don't get cranky. We'll have to restart your med drip. And maybe run this voltage up just a little bit... it won't hurt...

Listen to him, Hiflier, he knows of what he speaks. Al is our rezident Ovation dealer, and co-founder of this board.
And not a bad rocker, neither.
