Hi,

I am contemplating fixing my GK-2A Midi pickup on to the glossy black sounding board of my brandnew Elite 1778LX. Ofcourse, I would'nt dare use screws! But I am hesitating using the adhesive tapes that came with the kit. Is it okay to use them? Will they damage the coating?

Yeah, stay away from the wood screws. Epoxy wouldn't be good, either. That much I know. :) The tape is probably OK; I don't know for sure. But someone here will.

I've done a midi pickup using self adhesive Velcro. Not on an Ovation though. Wait for an expert opinion. There are glues that should not permanantly harm the finish. I'll stay tuned.

I've installed the Roland GK-2A Pickup to my EliteT with the double sided tape and have had no problems for over a year.
Just do the measurements very precise so you'll have correct inntonation.

HEART RULES!

Use the adhesive. After a year or two, if you remove it, there'll be a faint witness shadow, but there's no other way. Compromises always compromises.

I would agree that there may be a shadowy afterlife on your finish but maybe you'll never want to remove the pickup. I went through this same delimma but I realized that the finish on the EliteT is indestructable or something. No pick scratches, nothing. I've taken the pickup off and saw no evidence that it was ever there.

Good luck and know that your guitar will now go where no guitar has gone before...I love the GK-2A Pickup!

That sounds interesting, use the putty to find the location, and then use the tape to apply. I've never used putty so I can't say how it would work, but I like it.

ThankX, guys! Will be using the double sided tape next Sunday for fixing the GK-2AH and yes, I don't really intend ever removing the pickup.
Will get back when the job is done and the guitar is tested thru my GI-20 & QY100 as well as EM2000.
