Through the generosity of the Calman Adoption Agency Ltd. I have had the ability to try one of the premier flavors of the Ovation Ice Creamery.

I put a new set of Adamas 1818's on her and spent quite a bit of quality time playing. I am hooked! Something about it just sounds and feels right. The resin impregnated neck and the way the whole guitar vibrates as one unit.

One of these with an OP50 in red please!

The Adamas I found on eBay arrived yesterday. Case is in pretty good shape, the guitar is PERFECT! Not a mark on it, not even a pick scratch on the epaulets. Threw a new set of 1818's on it and went to work.

First thing I noticed was the shape of the neck. This one has a deep 'V'. It sure has a different feel than the 1537. The more I play it, the more I'm beginning to like it for the difference. Not better or worse than the soft 'V', but very different!

The sound is quite a bit 'brighter' and louder than the 1537. Didn't put them side by side until this evening. I was thinking that the 1537 was MUCH better, more mellow, and 'woody' in tone. Played then back to back, same tune, and came away not so sure which I preferred.

Thinking it over I decided that both before and after the 1537 was the keeper, but not by as wide a margin as going in.

It will be fun to play them both. I've been trying some alternative tunings, so it will be nice to have both of these to play with, to get an understanding of the nuances of each. Life is good!

Now I've got to find a FD-14 looking for a new home!
