Does anyone know if the center soundhole 12-string O's (e.g., Legend) use a different sized truss rod wrench than the multi-hole O's (e.g., Elite)? I have been trying to adjust the rod on my CL-12 with my CE-6 wrench and the wrench seems too small.

P.s. Happy Halloween!

Bump

Does anyone who has a 6 and a 12 know if they need different wrenches?

Thanks

Franklin

My Legend LX 6 + 12 have the same size hex nut. I use the same wrench for both with no problem.

The book calls for a 1/4" nut driver for the headstock adjustment. Inside the guitar, at the base of the neck, the rod size is unknown to me. I don't know if it's male or female. If it's female it's probably 3/16 or smaller. Maybe 5/32.
If it's male the size should be 1/4 " also.
Franklin, is your CL-12 guitar new? If someone has tried to use a smaller, or incorrect sized tool, it's possilbe the rod hole has been wallowed out. It's easy to mess up a hexagonal hole if the allen wrench is off sized. You might try a ball nosed allen wrench for adjustment, or you can slightly taper the edges of your tool, with a file, to get it to seat deeper in the hole. This technique would only apply to a female hex, as in a cap head bolt. That's about all I can suggest. I'll check inside one of my Ovations to see what it is, and come back later with a report. Other members are saying that all the rods take the same wrench and I believe them. The likelihood of different sized rods would be slim. Good Luck, Buck
