The U681T just flew in today from Virginia. I'd offer you a thought or two on it but the ownwer plays with Elixir 29-147 gauge strings and I can't even play Oh Susannah on it.

Now, change strings or spend a week with the gripmeister?

It is awesomely loud.

Schroed, just jack the action up on it about 1/2" and play slide.

If I play with any thing lighter, I end up flattening them out on the frets.

I'm from the school that believes one must strangle the neck into submission to get the guitar to screech, wheeze and gag appropriately.

...Jeff, would that school be in NJ? And are you sure it's supposed to be a guitar?

Now that I think about it...

I might be confusing the New Jersey Conservatory with my time at Wiseguy Tech in Hoboken.

Just put 1818's or D'add EJ or EXP 16's and quit whining. It's still going to be loud. I'm actually kinda liking the DR RPM-12's (mediums) on mine. they're *a little* heavier, but still very playable.

I don't do bronze strings in any way shape or form. And it's my guitar* and I'll whine if I want to, whine if I want to, you'd whine too if it happened to you.

I've got such a way with words.

(*Possession being 9/10 of the law, it's mine.)

It's getting gypsy strings and that's all there is to it.

If I ever do get my guitar back, it will have atrophied to a state of complete pussyness.

Hey Jeff,

Remeber I'm the one that plays the heaviest freakin' nylon strings I can find. I even tried steel-like strings on my classical and decided the only way I was going to get chops was to get a real steel string guitar. That said, Master Michael Wong (Playadamas) pointed out that I had a tendancy to crush strings. I found out that "over-fretting" not only screws up intonation, it kills tone too!! So relax Popeye :D You should be able to feel the string move a little when your picking (flat or finger). This is true for all guages, tensions, and compositions of strings. It's also why proper classical technique is to touch the only the strings with your fingertips, and the neck only with the pad of your thumb, otherwise you dampen the vibrations being transitted through the neck. Real Men play Gypisies, Nylon, Thomastics, AND wear Kilts :p

Fred,
You make a well reasoned arguement. Your logic is flawless and I must cede to your statements about technique.

My guitar is still coming back a pussy.

...Now, I'm off to iron my kilt...

For Sale:
U681T -

In good shape despite it's previous owner's unrefined technique. Likes dogs, long walks on autumn days, hot chocolate in front of a crackling fire.

Will be shipped from Great Britain (God Save the Queen!) in a stout paper sack padded by empty Guiness cartons.

Make offer, it's probably more than it's worth, considering the finger imprints in the neck (involving the aforementioned previous owner), and the slight mishap on the stairs (involving the aforementioned Guiness cartons). Contact Schroeder.

Don't be silly Wabbit. Der Panzer is not for sale. Not now. Not ever. And it certainly isn't leaving the UK in the forseeable future.

Cliff - they will be Galli strings. Super high-tech manufacturer. Make absolutely fantastic classical strings. Italian.

Gotta go finish painting the peghead pink. When I pussify a guitar, I pussify it.

Carnaby Street daisies'd look nice on the top.

Y'can save the trouble of painting & just get some of those rubber stick-on ones (like for the bathtub) . . . .
