Location: Keller, TX | OK quick summary. Spent about 4 hours playing it yesterday.
Very similar to the W597. I think it may actually be a W597, but not labeled as such. I would describe the sound as musical. Fred called them overtones. Very light and airy sounding. Very easy to play. Oiled neck.
The 1681 has a fuller sound. Deeper mids. Similar lows. More uniform sound. Sounds much better with the OpPro thru XLR than the old mono two-knobber.
Custom Elite LX. Oiled neck - not bad, just different. I like them both, just haven't decided which I like better. Brighter than the 1681, about the same coloring as the Millenium, but not as musical sounding.
Playing the Millenium makes you feel happy. Sounds like it is singing. The 1681 is more dramatic and mellow. Good for the crying the blues. Also for ballads. Custom Elite is for classic rock, strumming, and country.

Great, very detailed analogy. It must be nice to hae three very nice guitars there to do a side by side with ;) MoodyPI and I kinda did that for about 15 minutes a few weeks ago. The textured top Adamaii have certain character that we all seem to like. The Milleniun touches on that, but it's different. Remeber this was produced when they first worked out the CVT. I don't think it sounds like the current W597. It definatey projects more than the other mid backs too. What really surprised me was just how nice the 1537 sounds. It's definately in the same league as the Adamas. |

Location: Parrish, FL | Just got done jumping back and forth between the 1681 and the 1537. You're right, it is amazing how close these two guitars are. They are different though.
The Adamas is the brassier sister of the two, with the 1537 the beauty with the huskier voice. The 1537 is smoother at the high end with a clear distinctive tone at the low end.
They do play different. The Adamas has a satin finish deep 'V' neck and the Elite is gloss finish with a soft 'V'. Can't decide which shape I like better, but the satin is smooooth!
Getting to appreciate the small differences of different guitars and why a body would want many different flavors to choose from depending on the type of music and voice you are looking for.

Location: Keller, TX | Fred, I would agree that the Mill is different than the 1681 or the Elite (never heard a 1537). However, I think the Mill sound very close to the W597. Remember at Texas OFC, Craig was playing the Mill and I had the W597. To my ears, they sounded essentially the same while the Elite and the Uterus were different. |
