Location: New Orleans | Will the OP-Pro fit my EliteT? I need a notch filter and if I'm going to change the preamp I'm guessing that the OP-Pro would be the ticket. Advice? |

LeStrange, It may or may not fit. Depends on what you have now. Sure, you can put it in. It may require routing, fiberglass, and rewiring the pickup, but you CAN get it in there. Others on the board will know if the OpPro or Op50 are drop-in replacements for what you have or if you need other mechanical work. Tell us what you currently have and someone will know the details.
If you want the notch, get the Op50 with XLR. Or you can get an older Optima with XLR that has a notch. |

Location: New Orleans | I have the OP-30 right now. I also have a guitar that plays itself, meaning the D string vibrates on it's own sometimes when the guitar is plugged in and unattended for a moment and ends up literally shaking the walls.
I see now that the OP-50 may be what I'm looking for but it hadn't occured to me that I might have to send the guitar back to the factory for the upgrade. :(
I'm going do a search on the Para Acoustic box.

Location: New Orleans | No, I haven't had this feedback unless I'm in my little converted home studio and the amp master volume is over 4. It's driving me nuts. Will the airlocks compromise the sound any, the bass? Prolly worth a try. AL??? I can order them today.
I've been wanting to upgrade the preamp on the EliteT since I got it. The sound this guitar has is worth any upgrade I can make.

Location: Warren,Pa. | Nobody here knows what they're talking about! Allow me to step in if I may. You have the Op30, right? As I look at the Ovation owners manual (pg.7&8), the Op40 has a notch. Yes, the Op50 has a notch as well. But it also has an XLR which you're not asking for and would require a different can and another hole to add the XLR jack. You want an Op40. Airlocks will eliminate feedback for $20, but you get NO acoustic sound while using them, so it's "put them in...take them out...put them in...etc." If you have the $ get the Op40 and drop it in. If she's plugged in and playing at a volume that brings the D string anywhere NEAR feeding back, hearing the straight acoustic sound is pretty much a non-issue . . . |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I know...My point was really that the Op40 was the answer. Not the Op50. Is it possible that with the airlocks the D string would still vibrate? I just read somewhere that feedback can show up from 2 sources...the inside of the bowl AND the strings. I think that happened to me with my CL12 w/Optima. I would notch one feedback note, but then I'd get feedback at another frequency. You can only kill one of them with the notch. |

I'd suggest that the first thing you do is experiment with different attitudes between yourself and your amp in your studio. Sometimes just moving/angling your amp (or installing some baffling) can make a big difference . . . |

Location: New Orleans | I have rolled the amp all over the place searching for that perfect place ( :confused: ) but there is none. Now I'm thinking that I should do 2 things. Spend the $$$ on the baffling AND go ahead and send it in for the OP-50 with the XLR upgrade.
How do I get in touch with Kim? Also, to those of you that have it, how would you rate the OP-50 with the XLR?
Thanks for the insight on helping with the solution, you guys. My only concern is how long it would take, it's my favorite and it's my only Ovation now.
I know from all I've read here that the factory will do superior work on my intrepid O. |

I never leave my guitar unattended while plugged into a hot amp close by without turning the preamp volume down, you're just asking for trouble. That's a completely different situation than feedback while performing.

I also have an Elite T, and like you, really like it. It is very resonant.
Are you satisfied with your amp?
If you have been thinking about a different one, now might be the time to upgrade and get one with a notch filter on the amp.
You get two things, notch filter and new amp.
My amp has the notch filter and it does the job.
I realize this will probably cost more, but is a good justification for the amp you want. |

I do turn the volume off now, I really have no choice! It scared the hell out of me the first time it did that, I've never had that happen quite that loud before but I also want it to Stop or at least chill out. ;)
My amp is just a year old. I bought the guitar, the Roland GK-2A pickup and the Roland VGA-7 amplifier all at once. I hadn't seriously played guitar in a couple of years because of work and had serious "G.A.S." attacks after playing an EliteT. Then I found out about the 12 string EliteT and started saving for one of those. Then 2 monster hurricanes came and now I'm saving all over again, hoping I can still find a 6758T when I'm ready. :D
The one thing the amp doesn't have is a notch filter. You can control the feedback only in the delay effects, nothing near what I need. That's alright though because now I'm really looking forward to getting the OP-50 and the XLR upgrade. I hope it doesn't take too long, I can imagine the withdrawal symptoms. |

Location: New Orleans | The COSM side of the amp allows the EliteT to become electric. It models many different guitars, amps and tunings. That may be why I can't help myself. ;) |
