Can going to too heavy a guage (13) cause a buzz??

Thanks.

If it buzzes on the fret next to your finger, you might be having trouble pushing it down far enough. Otherwise, fret buzz is usually caused by the action set too low or too light a guage or both.

Yes. But you can adjust your action and truss rod. And then get used to using heavier strings. Not a problem.

All things being equal, I would never expect a heavier gauge string to cause fret buzz. The natural tendency would be to cause changes that would stop, not start, buzzing. MiB does describe a possible source but I think a more likely cause would be something structural/mechanical in the guitar body or around the tuning pegs. Check the placement of your lead wires, tap the top and listen for loose bracing. Heavier gauge strings will cause your instrument vibration to increase markedly. Look for buzz sources that relate to that effect.

But what do I know, I don't sell gear at all (except the odd ebay conflagaration) ;)
