Joined: July 2005 Posts: 55 Location: lewisburg ohio | a while back I was running around the music stores trying to play different guitars looking really for a wide neck and short scale any way I got one on ebay its a seagull artist cameo. anyhow I tried several ovations for around 900 dollars was a elite cant remember the model number I know it was a shallower bowl than my old 1712 balladeer. now it looked cooler than my balladeer but ill tell you my old balladeer kicked its butt as far as sound quality I wonder if its because the wood in the old balladeer is more cured out or some thing or they just built them better in the past fact is the only guitar that sounded better was an adamas it was around 1800 dollars cant remember the model number

I don't think I would bet money on comparing it's sound to any of the deep bowl O's but this guitar was fantastic as a stage guitar! Electronics were great for amplification and that shallow bowl was great for control and general comfort! Had nothing to do with the age as far as I can tell Randy

Maybe I'm an old fuddy-duddy, and yes sometimes my spelling could use some help. But I stil think that caps, full sentences, and proper punction is very much like saying please and thank you, let ladies go first, and talking your shoes off at the front door. But what the hell do I matter ... Dave

Just interesting how language and grammer skills (or even the need) has changed over the years. I'm as guilty as anyone. Btw, I think "English" should have been capitalized. Dave

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12750 Location: Boise, Idaho | I was busting your chops, Johbren. I actually had trouble typing without the spaces and caps. I hate to see bad habits, when the good habits are just as easy to develop and just as hard to break. I've been in arguments over whether we should still use 2 spaces after the period. There really isn't anything so important we type on this board that we need to type it faster. Thanks for humoring me. (I also had a couple beers before I typed my first response.)

Ill tell you whats ironic Im 53 years old just got back into playing about four years ago. I started taking lessons about nine months ago to see if I could learn things from a guitar teacher. Well anyway the guy who gives me guitar lessons is a professional guitarist and plays all over the southwestern ohio and in Indiana areas. Well dig this his mother was my English teacher in my sophmore year of high school. ha ha ha that is the truth shes around 80 years old now but still spry and if she saw my poor grammer she would scold my butt. check out ericloy.com
