I don't beleive it.
I re-strung the Breadwinner. Wraps nice a tidy.
Clipped the wire.
Went to tune it up.
I mixed up the D and the A string.
And the strings are trimmed to short to make work.
I'll have to wear the scarlet "R" for a week. :(

Start at the bass side installing the fatter ones first and work towards the treble. The skinniest string should be last.

If it helps they label the package that the string comes in.....bigger number goes towards bass side, smaller number towards treble. Keep trying, you'll get it right.

I've done that(haven't we all?)......using D'Addario strings and checking and rechecking the color code keeps me honest.

I was at a band members home once and after playing various other members guitars one night I changed the strings on my guitar to make it sound better.
Concentrating deeply and working diligently to accomplsh this tedious goal while quite stoned. I finally finished the task and tuned it close to let it sit for a while. I then stood up and set my friends guitar down on the couch right next to my guitar with that same old set of strings!

I was wrong about what guitar I was restringing. I was wrong and I often am

You shoulda left them on as is, tuned to a modified D modal, and created a new sound. You coulda made millions!

Northcountry, this is not a stoners' board. We don't discuss times we got stoned.

Don't feel bad, Brad. Once I had to restring my guitar in a hurry before a gig, and in my haste, restrung the entire thing backwards (I'm left handed and strung it righty)! I mean, I strung the whole thing and didn't realize what I'd done until I went to tune it.

Well, I feel a little better about it. I guess misery loves company.
Today at lunch I'll go buy another set an try again.
Having been reduced to rookie status for the time being, I'm tempted to ask "What kind of strings should I put on my Breadwinner?".... but I won't.

Why buy a whole new set?
Can't you just buy an A and a D??

I would advise sticking to guitar strings for best results

I made a simaler mistake using Martin SP fingerstyle strings it is the way they package them. A G with a B string in the same envolpe. Martin must be trying to save a dollar. I caught it before I trimed them.

I guess I could just by the two strings but I'd have to drive 10 miles to the store that sells seperate strings. There's a small shop right close. I'll just buy a complete set and take the hit. Perhaps my charter-captain co-worker can use the old/new strings for Muskie leaders or something.
Maybe I'll buy a set of "Ernie Ball Super Slinky Rock & Roll" strings. The set I screwed up was "Fender Silver Bullets".

And BrianT...Just keep it up pal....remember...I know where you sleep!

Exactly what I was thinking, Cliff. For that matter all he really needs is a D. He should be able to use the A.

Maybe a whole new set is a good idea, sounds like you could use the practice.
