They showed stills of Glenn with various O's that he played during the years he played them, just before his award. They were sweet pics.

Very disappointed that Sugarland had a Rigel mandolin from Vt. That's the first time that I've seen him play anything other than an MM68, I know he has a -4, -ccb and a -8.

Why would this surprise anyone? I doubt AR even knew the event was going on. You've got a better chance of seeing one of these bumpkins show up at CMA spinning a set of turntables and a scratch pad, than playing an Ovation.

Glen didn't perform. He gave a brief, but somewhat emotional speech, where he thanked God, his wife, family, manager and his fans for their love and support. He also thanked his Uncle Boo for teaching him to play guitar. He appeared a bit overwhelmed as he thought of some of the previous inductees that he now resides along side of in the Hall of Fame.

Hey Jeff, Seems like he might have a song as well, considering the unique event; maybe 'wichita' or 'gentle', considering their mammoth airplay over the years...

Do you mean the Rock Music Awards? I only saw a handful of Country acts....

....I also noticed that most of today's "country" bands are using Les Pauls (rock) than the more "traditional" Fenders (particularly the Telecaster) The two guitarist in George Strait's band were playing Tele's...

Alison's been "hotting up" her image lately(note the picture of her with cleavage in Acoustic Guitar several months ago, plus the last AKUS CD cover), probably was intentional......

Yeah, Taks R' Us in country music, at least the more commericial side of country.

She looks better now than when she was a youngster. The years have been kind to her.

Saw this in another Forum:

Thought y'all would get a kick out of this letter to the editor that appeared in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Country music DOA in NYC

Time of death: 8 p.m.; the place: New York City ("Womack snags 3 CMA awards," News, Nov. 16).

Country music, a once- popular music form, died at the hands of the people who profit the most from it. Its last days were marked by a cartoonish exhibition in a city that has no radio station that plays country music. At the deathbed were pop icons Elton John, Bon Jovi and Billy Joel, none of whom knew the deceased.

Particularly upsetting was that the death occurred during the 80th birthday year of longtime friend Grand Ole Opry.

RICK SEGERS, Duluth
RIP Country Music!

It MIGHT have something t'do with the fact that the Official Sponsor of the Awards was . . . Gibson.

That's the truth...
She's also a stellar fiddle player and fronts one of the most talented and tight bands in any genre (Union Station).

This agreeing with Bongo Boy is getting to be depressing.

Never realised her legs were so good - none of her cd covers takes advantage of this - she may be missing a marketing trick here.

Good point Cliff, that would explain it. Money talks. Country music has eveloved, or de-evolved into Pop, and everyone knows it. The genre has been glitzified. Country fans are lucky to hear one song out of a hundred with the country feel.
