I was watching a movie on sundance a week ago about the Shakespheare and company book store in Paris, one of the resident poets said words to the effect that (and mind you he is American) that he hates the was Americans use the word awesome, A hamburger at macdonald's is awesome!!! No that is not awesome....standing on a volcano with the earth bubbling under your feet is awesome!! I agree.

Within walking distance of the louvre, I think. Usually McD's are aweful, so maybe, he heard an American who got a hold of one of these relatively decent Parisian big macs and didn't know any better.

All sense of proportion gets lost. "These trash bags are fantastic and I have some fabulous paperclips". My sister uses adjectives like terrific, and marvalous, in describing overyday objects. Can a bowl of tomato soup be called amazing, or wonderful? I'll let you know after lunch.

There are a handful of matronly women where I work that constantly use words like Sweety, Darl'in, Honey, etc. In it's place they seem to fit. I have had over 20 years of Government Management-anti-sexual-harassment-post-tailhook-be very afraid training and it just leaves you afraid to be yourself sometimes. I do prefer that if it is meant in a harassing or disrespectful manner you just kick their ass and it should stop. M(where's Red from that 70's Show)Woody

I saw a guy bring his dog to the shop, they butchered the dog, quartered it, and he left smiling ear to ear, with a big bowl of dogmeat. Kind of purplish hued. The guy couldn't have been happier. I was told it was good for your virulity. So next time your kid doesn't eat his food, tell him what happens to the dogs in china and that'll have to make his own meal.
