I decided I am going to start a new band. I would describe it as country funkadelic barbeque ski party music. Of course the first thing to decide is the guitar, so here goes...this

http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-MENSFELD-VAMPIRE-luthiers-guitar-new-INCRE...

or that

any comments are appreciated,

Well, the vampire would make a better weapon.

The Ovation would probably stay in tune better.

If the band is bad enough to need a weapon,
maybe you should stay home with the ovation
for a few more years?

Is the Vampire a transformer that turns into a robot? I think the price is a little high. You may want to see if anyone will pay you first.

That Mansfeld would be way more cool if it were headless, a la Steinberger. I say, go with the quilt maple Ovation...it looks like it's on FIYAH. Purrfect for a BBQ.

The Vampire guitar. The first thought that came to mind was that "they" are running out of ideas. I can't get worse.

And it also reminded me of this post from almost 2 years ago.
.........
Yikes.....What a strange one.

"My God Spock!!!!!! What is it?"
"Unknown Captain. Sensors indicate the presence of strings, frets, and tuning devices. However the library computer does not recognize this device as a "guitar".
"Can....we.....beamitaboard....Spock?"
"I would not take that action at his time. We cannot risk the safty of the crew. Computer records show that humans of the late 20th century did experimentation on the shapes and designs of guitars. Records show that a Mr. Kaman of Hartford started it all with a device called a ...."Breadwinner". By the end of the century outlaw luthiers had corrupted the instrument. By the year 2015 the United States Congress inacted laws against such experimentation. Frankly captain, I am amazed that your culture survived. The total disreguard for safty had once again almost ruined...."
"That's enough Spock.....Have Scotty put together a Fender Vibro-lux. Have it sent to my quarters with a bottle of romulan ale...no...make it Johnny Walker Red. Then..beam the devise directly to me. I will be off duty for 12 hours. I have explored the fine curves of many alien shapes..... but this one......"

After watching the CMA awards show The Vampire would not seem out of place but the Ovation would be soooooooo much better.

Let's do a poll. :D

The Vampire looks as though a lot of the stuff was added as an afterthought. If the maker really wanted to impress me, make it out of one piece of wood, why add stuff on, makes it look cheap. Notice also no bids yet. :D

The Ovation on the other hand is a very nice guitar. I'll have one of those. :)
