Hey All,

I'm looking to buy a guitar amp for the ovation cc057. I've looked at several amps at the $150-$250 price range, like Behringer, Roland, Marshall, Line 6 and Crate. But I can't decide on what's the best, I'm tempted to go with marshall but i don't want to make the mistake of buying it just because of the name. I'm not sure which would give the ovation a nice hard rock sound(if that's possible with an Acoustic/Electric) and a good clean sound too. What do you all think?

Thanks Guys

I second that, although a local guy has a Berringer and it sounds good too.

-alpep,The roland's nice, but a little expensive for me. I may look into the cheaper rolands.

-cw2k, I was really interested in behringer but I heard from guitar techs that they cause lots of problems after a few months. They recommended a Line 6 spider amp.

Do ovations sound nice distorted? I love playing acoustic songs but I need my hard rock fix.

Thanks

Ovations sound awesome amped and distorted.

Ive played through Marshalls...believe me..you're not just buying a name.

The valvestate is an incredible choice for the ovation.

The blonde baby amp...is another good choice im my book as well.

I get comments all the time...with people asking how do you get that sound from an acoustic electric...its not possible...

I say...oh yes it is :)

FWIW, I think your gut will tell you which is best. But first you have to decide what the mission is. Is it for clean acoustic sounds, or for messing around in your house, or to fill an auditorium, or to get an electric guitar sound?

My daughter and I went yesterday to guitar center and plugged in an Ovation Elite T 1178T Red Flame just like hers. I would have bought the Crate 30 watt acoustic amp because it sure sounded nice. She plugged into just about every combo amp under $250 in the store and settled on the Line 6 Spider II 15 watt unit. It has all the sounds and effects, including being able to have two effects going simultaneously. It also allows for headphones, recording out, and connecting a CD player via RCA jacks. It had all the things important to her, plus she liked the sound and the portability.

Really what you like is the best. There are some brands known for being less reliable, so I would stay away from those. Other than that, though, go with what you like the best!
