I have 3 songs to submit for concideration for the OFC disc. They come out of my Korg Pandora recorder as an mp2 file. They play on the computer just fine but when I burn them onto a CD they will not play in my truck CD player. Will this cause StandingOvation a problem in working with these files???

Sorry, I'm confused. Do you burn them as data?

If you are converting them to audio they should play either way. The truck CD won't see them as MP2 or MP3.

That depends on whether or not he can convert them to WAV. I'm guessing he can, but he could answer that.

Nick's right. If you burn them as data your truck won't be able to read them anyway. UNLESS your truck player is MP3 capable. But that doesn't mean it's able to decode MP2's.

Update...
Looking in "properties", I see the file is listed as an "mpeg".

Brad, when you burn them as audio tracks your software will convert them to WAVs and Dave will have no problem with them.

I'll let ya know.
Is it possible that modern music technology cannot read a uke file? Could that be the problem???

It may be that, through foresight and in the general best interest of society, the maker of your player included the much applauded 'uke blocker' chip. This product has been proven to protect sensitive ears from the potentially hazardous effects of ukelele music.

To play your songs in a truck, the files need to be CDa, that is, cd audio. You should be able to convert any mp3 to wave, or vice versa. You might try MusicMatch Jukebox software, it performs conversions nicely. You can even record LPs and old cassettes to digital. I'm guessing Standing Ovation can play any kind of file you send him.

Not necessarily, Bucky. Many auto CD players these days are capable of playing MP3's. Probably not MP2's, however.
Odd that Brad's unit outputs in that format, it's usually associated with de-muxed video files.

I know nothing of mp2 files, and my newest vehicle is a 2000. As usual, I'm behind the times. I am pretty sure that a cda will play on anything..

I have asked a tech type guy to give me hand. The Windows Media program here at work would not copy the mp2 files as an audio file.
I did not have this problem before. Perhaps I have a setting changed in the Korg.
We're working on it.

Brad, try this. It's a free download and great program. It will convert mp2's to mp3's or WAV's or just about anything. Plus it's a great CD audio ripper as well. I've been using it for years.

Your CD-Burning software (like Roxio or Nero) SHOULD allow you to "Create an Audio CD" that'll take mp3 files and burn 'em to a CD that'll play in your car/home unit . . .

But again, I'd check what options your Korg allows you to save files as . . .

If it's the PXR4, it uses MPG1 level 2 files. No problem, DbPowerAmp should be able to convert them, Brad.

Not true! I think almost everyone gets it. It's just that most will not admit it. Ukuleles are like masterbation. 90% of the population does it. 10% admits it. Dave

Ahem... moving right along...
Brad, I'm glad DbPowerAmp worked for you. It's saved me a lot of headaches over the years. It's amazing how many free software utilities there are out there.

I'll look forward to hearing your uke songs!

I have to keep going with the equipment purchases. Currently I have given up on the Multi-Effects Units. They are nice but I honestly have such a hard time figuring them out I find I am wasting more time finding and tring to save my sounds. Then I have to remember how I did it the next time I get a chance to practice. So I am buying up some great Boss, Fulltone & DOD Bass effects and a Hartke Pre Amp so I can go back to the old pedals I am used to. I did manage to get kind of used to a little Zoom effects unit for the Acoustics. This is a real step into the 90's for me!
Anyway I really need to get into the recording equipment soon! I see so many great little units now 4 track, 8 track, 16 track and on & on. These little units are so advanced from the equipment I remember using back in my day.
You younger guy's and those of you who are my age, who understand what your doing, have really kept up with the electronics and lets face it with the wrong equipment, a good band can sound pretty bad. But with the right stuff, a good band can sound great!
Anyway I have said it before and I'll say it again someone who has the ability to be a true "Sound Man" is just as much a factor as a musician for a band.
I look forward to hearing what you guy's come up with.

Randy

Unflippin' real...
Okay...I have them switched over to a mp3 file and burned on a disc. Now, when I try to move the songs off the disc onto the harddrive the only thing that will "drag & drop" or "copy and paste" is the darn short cut icon!!!!

Nevermind....my son Steve knew what to do.
Another son of mine installed his i-tunes progam last week. That program seem to just want to take over all media files. Sony is big on copyright...do you think that program might be part of the problem??

A lot of people are staying away from Sony CDs right now. They have some nasty software imbedded in the discs. I believe they are being investigated, or possibly indicted. There is a list online of the infected CDs.
