The dunlops are definitly superior. Easy to strap up and off, and very secure. Plus the added bonus that the newer O's (late-90's+) come with them.

an, if you go to 'full reply form' and use the 'URL' button for links, it doesn't make the whole page go wide like that.

And if you print that Sam Ash page and take it to GC, they'll match the price. Not that I'm advocating GC, but I hate waiting for stuff to be shipped. I needed a couple of Speakon to 1/4" adaptors yesterday, dropped into GC and they had them. For $22.99 each! I happened to have a audio catalog in the car selling them for $10.99, showed it to them and they matched the price. Granted, not with much enthusiasm, but they did it. That's also how I got them to sell me 2 6778LX's for $150 under thier sale price. :D

I agree that the Dunlops are the best strap lock I have ever used. I have 2 sets that are at least 15 years old and have never had any problem with them. The only thing I would advise is to make sure it is frimly snapped in.

Thanks for the replys. I use the Dunlops myself, but it seems like I can't keep them lubricated enough. They get harder and harder to engage and disengage. A Q-Tip full of WD40 works for a few days, but not very long.

So the reason I asked about these was to see if there was something effective for locking straps on as an alternative.

Of course, if anyone has a better answer that a douche with WD40 to make the Dunlops easier to use, I'm all ears!

I never have that problem with mine, Robbie. I have one strap with the locks on it, and I use it for the four guitars I have that have the straplocs. Eventually the other two will have them as well.

PS Never had a problem with mine either, and I have them on three of my guitars, though use the button only on the upper bout or where the neck attaches. Don't seem to need a lock on the lower button.

Now watch, tomorrow it'll stop working.

PS I always thought of wd-40 as a cleaner, or to get things unstuck. Once they are unstuck or cleaned, for machined parts that I want to lube, I prefer gun oil or some other light machine oil. WD-40 evaporates too fast to be a lube.

Have had nothing but schallers on all my guitars. I found the strap locks that have the push button mechanism can actually get bumped and the little locking ball bearings can appear to be locked when they are actually a crash waiting to happen.
Case in point. Guy sets his guitar down on the floor on the carpet and leans it against the wall just for a minute. When he picks it up the button has been depresssed and the strap is still on but no longer locked in. Luck would have it that as he was putting the strap around his head it came off the bottom and he had his hand on the neck so no broken guitar. He had a look that was completely cunfused! He bought a set of schallers and I have since then as well.

But thats just my opinion and I know that since I took the blue pill I should no longer have one? Go figure?

Schallers. Every time, every guitar. Never had a failure of locking, or had one stuck on the guitar. I do tend to make them earn their keep...

See, as an example, the unique JohnnyG, the StoneChase bass player at one of our recent gigs.

It's not a good gig if we don't end up standing on something - the confidence I get from the Straplocks helps a little!
