Anyone have one of these? Any straight-forward opinions on them?

I have a 1616-4, Vince and have loved it for about 20 years running. Nice, warm, soft sound. Deep dish - big sound. Have never tried any other nylon Ovation (never felt the need to go look for one really) but I never regretted owning this one.

I have not. Just kind of bumped into this guitar and loved the feel so I bought it when I was young thinking that I'll eventually get serious enough to learn a little classical. Long story short - never did, but have never really pursued the option of selling it despite the fact that I play a couple other guitars a little more often. Thought about it a couple of times but just haven't been able to pull that trigger.

There is some difference in sound between the spruce top of the 1616 and the cedar on my 1713, but I haven't compared the two.
I love the 1713 and have played some other more traditional classical guitars and didn't like them. I have never had the chance to play a real high end classical guitar, but the 1713 is more than I need.

Concert Classic

An hour and a half left and up to $295 (reserve met) if anyone is interested. Norseman, if you're around, weren't you inquiring 'bout mine when I was considering turning it around?

Hey Weaser, That's me bidding on that 1616-4. There's another one on Ebay for a little over $200 but he won't take PayPal. Is that other one yours?

Nope - so far I'm keeping mine. Good luck on it though - like I said, I'm not sorry I bought mine.

If that (y2kredi) is you, Vince, nice catch! And I think the other one is straight acoustic unless I'm missing the details on the electronics.

Thanks! Even though the guy didn't have a digital camera to post photos, he assured me in many emails that it was in pristine condition. I could see the volume knob in the pictures of the other one for sale though, so it apparently has electronics. It looks very nice also, but the one I bought has been factory upgraded with an OP24. Also, mine came with the hard case and the other one only comes with a gig bag. I'm so happy ... my first Ovation with a slot head (:

I've always found that the ceder sounded better with the nylon strings but they are close.

That's why I bought one, because I value Bill's opinion. It was also the only one available. I've never heard the spanish pine or spruce tops.

I'm supposed to receive mine tomorrow. I'll let you know my opinion of the differences between it and a traditional mid-level concert classical.

The curiosity has been killin' me!~
