The women cook, the men lay around and watch football. you don't have to dress up or buy gifts. And most people get a long 4 day weekend! Life is good!

Set up guest beds. Put my guitars away because of a wonderful two year old. Help the guests haul in their cribs, diaper bags, and luggage. And just because it's my house I am the only one allowed to carve the turkey. Hey Brian...can I come over your house???? But really... I would not have it any other way. :D I hope everyone enjoys watching the Lions get spanked. Edit: what stonebobbo said..

We sure have a lot to be thankful for don't we? Even in addition to 1537s, 1681s, 1869s, and all the one's out there waiting to be snagged. I'm also thankful I don't have to pay what those guys in Europe and Japan have to pay for good Os

Snow / Rain / Sleet / Windy 26 - 46 I too share in permitting the women to cook and clean on this special day. They want to do it, so what can I do?! They're certainly better than I am.

For me Thanksgiving is a time to take a giant step back and put my own personal situation in perspective. I'm pissing and moaning that Ovation makes purple guitars with plastic backs while at the same time a player on our local HS football team took a hit in practice a few days ago and is now paralyzed from the waist down. What the fuck have I got to complain about. Get real, Witko. The last few years we've had this great family tradition. Since my kids go to university in NYC, and Grandma and 4-5 aunts and uncles live an hour north by train, my dear loving wife makes the huge sacrifice to fly to NY and spend Thanksgiving with the kids and family. I'm left here alone, and I FRIGGING LOVE IT. I volunteer at the Phoenix food bank dinner for the needy for most of the day thursday. Makes me feel good and I get a free turkey dinner out of it. Then I've got three days of bliss in the beautiful Arizona sunshine. No work, no wife, no rain cold and snow. Gotta love that! Yes there is plenty to be thankful for. Dave

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 2487 | First Snow of this climatically challenged year is forcast to arrive in the early hours. One of the two days in the year I am happy to see snow! Yep winters here and another years down the crapper but there is always something that is good in our lives we need to take pause to recognize! This is certainly the day to do it. So enjoy the shared food and time with whom you have and if your of the religious persuasion, please pray our service men and women all "keep". If your not of the religious persuasion this day is a good day to give it a try! Enjoy the Pie Al! Your description of the broken stove and pumkin pie made a great visual of home, and moms, and life in general. That was nice! I am headed to my childhood home for the last Thanksgiving there as my Mom is going to sell that great old money pit of a memory filled home next year and move in with me and the grandkids. Life ..... even with the occasional bad stuff; it's still pretty Damned Amazing really! Randy Possibly being sappy for the second time in one night? Yep........ Sappy!........ but who cares right!

Joined: November 2005 Posts: 111 Location: Southern California | Aside from the ritual turkey pig-out and football overdose, once again it's time to say "thanks" for the gifts in our lives... here's mine: I'm thankful for my wife (who understands my guitar addiction, including my recent addition of a 1598 MERB), my 16 year old kitty (who is more of a surrogate child than anything else), a good roof over our heads, the growth of the business I started recently, good friends & family... in short, we have been blessed this year. And to those who have metioned remembering those in our armed services, all I can say is Amen to that! Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all!
