OK, here's my stupid question for December. (might as well get it over with early) How do you paste a picture onto a posting in this BB? I've seen images of a lot of Ovations in various messages, so I know it works somehow... but when I try to include an image, the "paste" function is grayed out on my browser's Edit tab. I'm usually able to figure this kind of stuff out, but I'm new to BB's so am kinda' lost here. Help? Thanks! :)

The first step is to either upload an image of locate one on the web. Copy the URL (CTRL C).

Using the Full Reply Form option select IMAGE
Then paste the URL into the field and say OK.

1st of all, picture has to be in the gallery or on a website...need to copy the path (usually by right clicking on the photo, select properties, then highlight the path by click and drag, then ^C to copy the path...go to reply (may need to select "Full Reply Form" button), click where you want to place the photo, click on "Image" button, then ^V to paste the path. Good option is to select "Preview Post" to check out the response (and picture) before adding the reply.

Here's the short version (ha!) Woody beat me to it, but I figured it was worth submitting anyway. (This is somewhat more complex than Woody's method, but it details every step you'll need to take.)

You can't paste an image directly into a post without first creating some HTML (or UBB Code, in this case) so that the web browser you're using knows how to handle the image. (Don't worry-you don't have to do any coding. The service you'll be using in the next couple of steps will do this for you.)

You'll first need to sign up with an online photo-hosting service, such as Photobucket ( http://www.photobucket.com ), which I use. It costs nothing and is very easy to use.

When you have an account set up, your next task is to upload the image you want to the hosting service. To do this, you need to have the image saved on your computer somehow. To make it easy, I put all my images in one folder that clearly is devoted to guitar images and nothing else.

In Photobucket, the first thing you'll see when you open an account is an entry form headed "Add Pictures." To add a picture to your account, hit "Browse" next to the "Picture" line, find the image you want to upload, and hit "Open" to give Photobucket the file location on your computer. Once a file path is specified within the "Picture" entry field, hit "Submit" and wait for Photobucket to verify that it has uploaded your picture to your account.

Now that you have the image hosted, it's fairly easy to place an image within your post. Beneath every image you upload on Photobucket, there are three lines marked "URL", "Tag", and "IMG." To embed images within a post on the OFC, highlight all of the text within the "IMG" line, copy it, and paste that line of text into the OFC's posting field where you want the image to appear. You'll see only a line of text at this point, something that will begin and end with the tags .
This is the UBB Code, which the bulletin board software will use to request the image you have specified from Photobucket so that it can be displayed within the post.

When you're done writing your post, hit "Submit" as usual. The image will appear in your post.

Like so:

Hope this helps.

Phil, I should have thought to ask for copies of your stills from the Tour. I could have included them in a photo gallery on the DVD. Maybe next year.

Jeez, Phil. Just buy an EOS Rebel and get it over with.

I just got the Canon S2-IS. GREAT camera! 5 Mpixal, 12x optical zoom, image stabilization, DV quality video... I love it.

Right, Jeff... sure you don't mean April 1?

I am waiting for reviews on a new Nikon D200 retail $1,700.
It's a full size digital SLR that I can use my lenses with. It's 10.2 Megapixels. I just want to be prepared for future Wedding's, Parties, Etc.
If This doesn't work out Nikon also has a small point and shoot model P1. this one is 8 megapixels and is WiFi capable, retail about $500.

They also carry a lot of home electronics . . .

Well, the 16.7 (EOS-1Ds Mark II) runs 6K to 8K. A little high for the enthusiast. But the Rebel XT (8mp) runs under 1K, and they have models in between those prices. The S2IS I bought is 'mock-slr' meaning you're seeing the same image through the eyepiece as you see on the lcd display, better than a viewfinder (no parallax). For the money (I got mine for $440), it's a heck of a camera. Takes DV quality video with stereo sound, and you can shoot stills and use the zoom while filming. Almost every function can be auto or manual.

I use Nikon equipment primarily. So it would be to expensive to start from scratch. I have 4 Nikon lenses so that is the way to go. I do have a Canon underwater point and shoot camera though. It's fun for the kids and when we go to a water park or pool I don't have to worry about dropping the camera in the water.
