Hello,
This is my first time here, I hope someone may be able to help me out. I have a Legend model 1667 that has a great electronic sound/tone for recording, but has developed a 60 cycle hum, along with another higher pitched buzzing sound that is quite loud. The guitar is now very positional as to the stregth of the noises but never totaly clean. I've killed the power to everything in my studio(except the Firepod) and it did not change the noises at all. I have 3 other Ovations and they are dead quite at all times in the studio. I would use one of them but I need the cutaway 1667 model. Could this be a bad ground? Battery is new and tested good when installed. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

All my acoustics's are Ovations!!!!!!!

Probably a bad ground, probably where the wire connects to the saddle, but check to see if the internal cable is completely plugged into the preamp.

Thank You for the help so far. I checked the pickup plug in, no problem there. I unplugged the pickup and no change in the noises. So I yanked the PreAmp Battery and output jack and tested it, still noise yet. I think I got some Caps that need to be replaced in the preamp. Should I take it to a electronics place and repair it or buy a new PreAmp? Either way it's gonna get spendy!!!!
Everthing out of the guitar already so no big deal there.

Thanks again for youe help.

Sounds like you have a bad op-amp. They aren't expensive, so I'd have someone check it out.

Received the preamp and it installed quite easily. The new preamp comes in component parts with plug ins, not direct wired like the original stuff. About 1/2 the weight also. Sounds good. Not the same volume level though..... Haven't recorded with it yet....
