Random quote: “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” -Plato |
Really OT: After a police chase I like to smoke some crack too.

Joined: August 2002 Posts: 8307 Location: Tennessee | I once owned an Italian car which generally gravitated towards high rpm's and the attendant speeds. Late one night I did a run down a deserted interstate here in Northern California. After I had gone into the cooling down period (and doing about 65), I was pulled over by a rapidly approaching CHP officer, who was responding to a radio report of a speeding vehicle loosely matching my description. Three minutes later, another CHP vehicle pulled up and an irritated officer complained that he had his Dodge Diplomat pegged at 120 and the vehicle he was chasing (he insinuated it was me) disappeared into the night. Following a discussion of reckless driving (them) and whether this might be a case of mistaken identity (me), we all agreed there was no basis for a ticket and that interstates were no place for cars to be driven at 2X+ the speed limit. After which they spent the next 15 minutes admiring the car, sitting in the drivers seat, revving the engine, and wondering what one of these would look like in black & white.

If one of us would have blown a tire--yikes. The amazing feeling to me was how the cars seem to float like your high, even though the suspensions were very stiff for street machines. Sure is a good thing my kids don't do stupid things like that.

Try the beltway around Washington DC during rush hour. 3. Try I75 thru Downtown Atlanta in the HOV lane during rush hour. Any of the above WILL make you old before your time,(if you survive). :D
