His description is cut and pasted from my review of the 1537 at Harmony Central.

....and he doesn't even credit me. The plagerous bastard.

That is a very early one as well. Notice there is no battery screw at the waist.

Jeff W,

"His description is cut and pasted from my review of the 1537 at Harmony Central."

If more than two sources were used it isn't plagarism, its called research!

I think it's time for Waskel to get one. Drive up and save the shipping.

Thanks for thinking of me, Mark. I'd love to. Unfortunately, last night my wife pointed out that 2005 was a banner year for me, as I aquired 5 guitars. Apparently my next banner year isn't due till 2020....

After recently buying a new laptop, I'm trying hard to ignore everything else and concentrate on saving for a 1581 (original or reissue).

I'm working on it. If successful, I want to compare it against the one I have for tone and action. They say no 2 guitars are alike and I'm interested in the differences. One or the other will be available after I've had my fun, that is unless my daughter claims it.

Hey, that's the exact same model as mine, but mine has a better looking top. Somebody better snag it!

Brad got outbid by jazzguitaristcat. He seems to buy a lot of Ovation trivia. Must be a fan.

I find it a bit suspicious that there is nothing in the ad about the condition of the guitar. It looks OK in the photos, but if anyone is really interested I suggest asking questions about the condition of the guitar in general and the frets, neck, action, prior repairs and electronics specifically.

The seller knows what he's got. If it were mint or in really great condition, that would be stated in the ad and the reserve price would be much higher.

Be carefull, this may not be as nice as it looks.

Just my $.02.

I was curious as to the condition myself. Unlikely he will let it go BIN for $700 unless there are issues. Especially after only 1 day on the market and pushing past $500 already.

Looks exactly like mine except I now realize I may be missing on of the markers (tone I think). I better go look again.

Although I have never had a Martin owner do anything but turn their nose up and sniff at my 1537.....course maybe that's the player and not the guitar that offends them.

I bet one of our Washington members would check it out if someone asked real nicely.

I'm out. As mentioned above, lack of a discussion on its condition leaves me less than enthusiastic.

The seller appears to be an OFC member....

At least his comment in the Q&A section referred to "fellow OFC" members.

Any ideas?

I should have let moody do this, but I checked the members directory for Washington. Most had 0 posts, so I couldn't find much from them. None listed Federal Way, Washington. I checked the ones with posts that I wasn't familiar with and could find one that listed a 1537 in the signature. In short, I don't have a clue.

I got a reply from a John Williams. Anyone know him? Asked for a better description of the guitar, pros and cons. No answer as of yet.

Got a response from the seller. Claims a 9.5 out of 10. One of the epaulets has a piece missing (lower bout). Finish on epaulets looks to be checking. Other pics show a very nice, clean, guitar. His OFC handle is Meisterthumb. Checking the search, he sold a 1735 a couple of months ago.

I can forward the pics I have if anyone is interested.
