We've got about 6" since Thursday morning. It let up about 8p last night, only to start up again. The worst part is it's the heavy wet crap that my snow blower doesn't like. Glad someone else is getting it, too. ;)

Man, I know how it is, It supposed to get down to 50 degrees here by Monday. That's cold enough for snow, isn't it? We had to break out the winter shirts, you know the ones with sleeves.

I was 22 years old before I saw snow falling. I would like snow if it wasn't so cold. Yeah we have 110*+ for 60 or more days each year, but we don't have to shovel the heat off our driveways.

I've lived both extremes. Spent the first 35 years of my life in NY/NJ area. Last 13 years in Arizona. Each have their plus and minus. The only difference I would say is that surviving a winter in NY is much more difficult MENTALLY than surviving a summer in AZ. Dave

How can people say that with a straight face, when your sneakers are sticking to the asphalt?

I'm a rare Arizona native and don't miss the Summer heat for the Eastern winters.

My vaction last summer was my first experience with real hot weather.
110 during the Grand Canyon river ride.
105 for the hike.
105 for the mule ride at Bryce Canyon
115 in Vegas
The temp gauge on the rear view mirror read 133 after parking for just a little bit.
"But it's a dry heat" .. yeah....right
I agree that snow & cold can be hard mentaly. If I did not ski, I would go nuts.

Not just trying to defend my home state here, but ... Phoenix and Las Vegas have been the two fastest growing communities in the country for the past decade. There has got to be a reason why, and not because people crave the heat.

There are definately things I miss about the rain, cold, dampness, potholed roads, raking wet leaves, chipping ice off the gutters, etc. and under the right circumstances I would go back.

Have they really? I read somewhere that Fla was the fastest growing state, with 1k people per day moving in. Not that I'd want to live there full time, what with the fall weather and all. :)

Yes, lots of people are moving to Florida (1k per day), but they are just replacing the old ones who have passed away. No net gain.

Seriously, for the last 7-8 years it's bounced back and forth between Phoenix and Las Vegas about fastest growning. They use some formula that considers number of people, number of new homes construction and number of new jobs created. Some of the lists are misleading, because the growth is not in Phoenix per se, but the surrounding communities.

fastest growing cities

That's because desert land is cheap...as long as the water holds out. Of course, if there wasn't so much crime in SoCal, I'd be back in Oregon. :p :D :p
