I've seemed to have failed in finding a 6774. Just wondering if anybody has one or has played a LX. Wondering how they compare? I think a remember a post by moody pi about the LX.

I played one about 3 weeks ago at a GC in Torrance CA. Very good guitar. I was impressed with the sound both plugged in and acoustically. If you do a search, I think I posted my impressions on it.

Do you have to have a new 6774 LX? For a lot less, my 1983 1674 is going on the market next week.

I played one tonight at my local GC. It's a very nice looking and sounding guitar, but not for me. I think I like my 1763 more. I will say this: I think every Ovation/Adamas classical will benefit from high tension strings. This example did not suffer from the whole short-scale, low tension, intonation problems up the neck, but it did not ring out the way mine does (cedar top) with Savarez 520P1's. Don't forget about the S773-4 (cedar), or the new 1863 (spruce top) either. I also played a Cedar top Balladeer. Now that caught my ear. Very "mellow" and earthy for a steel string.

One of the things I like about my new 1773LX is that it's got a bigger, deeper tone than my 1674. It sounds more like a 1763, but with a brighter edge to it.

Absolutely right!!! You win the observance prize (it was just a test to see if anybody would notice it! I, of course, knew it all along, as did Fred).

First prize is a trip to Converse TX. Second prize is two trips to Converse......

Gulfcoaster,
Inquire with Alpep and he can give you a price. Being an LX AND a Folklore it can only be a great guitar! I have found with my 1778LX it is very responsive to what you do with it.

While my preference is the multiholes a nice Folklore LX sounds inviting.

Thanks for the replies, I actually talked to Alpep a couple of weeks ago. I didn't mention the LX, but he is on the lookout for something with a wide neck and steel strings. MWoody I prefer the multi sound holes most of the time myself, but I have also played some of the older deep bowl legends that really project and feel great.
