YES. You never know when you are going to have company. And NO, that's not an open invitation.

My order has been placed. This will be the 5th 12-string in the house (GCSB, A1, A2, Hurricane). At one time I had 8 twelvers so I still consider this reasonable. Current conditions permit me to do it so damn it I'm doing it. Things could change in the future. The good news is that this is a HELL OF A DEAL (can't quote price here) and for not much more than an LX12 or a ME12 you get a 12 fret slothead UTE loaded with and extra set of strings. DAMN! I'm sure we'll never lose money on this one.

I seem to recall either Stephen Stills or David Stills had a custom made D-28 (or maybe D-45) with an aftermarket 12 string neck added, which Martin eventually put into production. Im sure some clever luthier here could aftermarket a neck onto a U 681.

I'm pretty sure a 12string Ute was on the radar...

Seriously, I cannot imagine what that would sound like. You would have to be in the next room, or the same room if you were in an auditorium, to appreciate it. It would almost have to be a cutaway for liability purposes, wouldn't it?

Yeah, but why bother when you can just buy it that way as a 12-string to begin with.

I guess because you emulate Clarence White and put a Guild (or was it Gretch?) neck on, like he did with his now iconic, oversized soundhole Matin D-28. Its curious that in the Martin catalogue/literature that they never show the heastock of his modified guitar when they have one of his vintage photos.
