Wow, wow and wow!

Got my 2006 FKOA yesterday morning. After waiting forever for it to warm up in the case I finally got my hands on it. Tuned it up and picked a few in the dining room. Great unplugged sound. Took it gigging last night and plugged it in for the first time (had my Adamas 1597 SMT along just in case). Got the mix set up and went to work. I love this guitar. It is warm, it is bright, it is powerful, it is mellow. All in one guitar. It is the best sounding acoustic/electric I have ever heard. Oh, and by the way, did I mention that it plays like butter plus it is a beautiful piece of art. I'm afraid the 1597 isn't going to be getting out so much any more.

Welcome JJ!!!
I really like that koa model.
Where in Michigan is Dimondale??? I never heard of it. But to be fair, I bet you never hear of Algonac either.

Brad,
Oh yeah, I've heard of Algonac. I retired from MDOT. Dimondale is just a little southwest of Lansing.

My local music store of choice STILL has a koa collector on the rack. I wish it would sell. It calls to me every time I go in there.

Whoever does buy it will have a nice little surprise. I had some extra and duplicate OFC trinkets so I had the store owner put them in the case.

JJ, welcome to the group. How come you keep having guitars stolen?

The two that were stolen were stolen together. Oddly they left my 1964 Gibson J50. I am grateful for that. I bought that the year my oldest was born

So why don't you buy one of the 1-3/4 Koa Specials ???

I think we all have that little book of excuses to draw from. It's a lot easier to walk away when your can say, "If it only had a 1-3/4" nut" rather than, "If I only could afford it right now."
Feel free to borrow from my list...
If only it did't have medium strings.

To bad it's not a 12 string (or six string to fit the situation)

I already have quite a few Ovations... I think I'll leave this one for someone less fortunate to take home.

It's a shame... I got no room to store the case.

I hear that soon they are coming out with a model that has __________.

Happy New Year.

I blame it on the voices (after all - it really is their fault).

The one I have played several times at the nearest music store to me, is very impressive piece. Looks, voice, killer tone and very playable. It does seem to be volumne challenged however, accoustically. Is this unusual for this model or the norm. Might need a string change.

My wife just smiles when we go in there and says go ahead. She knows at some point before we leave I'll have to pull it down and play it a little. Must be some kind of magnet imbedded in there somewhere!

Enjoy it, as I know you will.

Dave

I had the same impression when I first got mine. Great sound, just real quiet, especially compared to my spruce topped 1778LX. But as the months have rolled by it seems to have opened up more. I was playing last night with a friend who was using an Alvarez MD200C, which is a bit of a cannon. I was thinking that I would need to plug in to keep up with the A's volume, having played with him, using my koa, before. To my surprise, I didn't.

It'll be interesting to see how it sounds in another year.

Here's another one for the list...

I think I'll let someone else spend all the time & effort of breaking it in, then I'll buy a used one.

OK slip but they only made 425 of these so I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for a used one any time soon.

Well, it's not like breakin' it in is a chore. It's always sounded beautiful and played beautifully. It's just now it's beautifuller.
