Now I can't reduce my post count back to 5000 so I can have the celebration I would have had, had I noticed. I wonder if you go back and edit it every 55 minutes or so, can you keep it alive?

I for one, feel it is long overdue.

From what I can tell the window of opportunity to change your post is just a couple of minutes. I am always surprised at the spelling and grammer errors that I do not catch the first time around. I had a bad habit of writting in Yoda speech. But gotten better I have.

I don't like losing the opportunity to correct myself, which I do A LOT, like Old Man Arthur and others. This is gonna bump everyone's post count through the roof. I REALLY don't like this!

(it's you older codgers i gotta worry about!) (...now proofreading and measuring my words...hmmm...nothing offensive, unless "older codgers" is too heavy... could capitalize appropriately...nah, no need...all is well...hit reply button now...)

Allowing people free reign to post what ever they want, and then have the ability for them to delete it after the damage is already done is probably not a good thing. 99.9% of us play nice, but there have been a few instances of abuse.
